The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 487

Before Matthew could comprehend what had happened, Caleb had already started dealing the cards. After he handed out three cards to everyone, he said, "I'll keep my cards face down. The bet is 10 thousand dollars."

Upon seeing this, Matthew frowned. Caleb was too skilled in dealing cards, making it look like he had a plan. If he cheated, he could manipulate the cards everyone would get.

Matthew decided to give it a try. "I'll keep my cards face down too." After saying that, Matthew tossed in a chip with the value of 10 thousand dollars.

Jane flipped her cards over. She glimpsed at her cards and tossed two chips on the table. "Fold."

She then revealed her hand. According to the rules, it was considered shown.

Players with hidden cards had to wager 10 thousand dollars. Those with face-up cards had to double the bet. So, she had lost 20 thousand dollars in this game.

After a quick peek at his cards, Sebastian wagered 20 thousand dollars as well. "Call."

Caleb tossed two more chips on the table for the second round. "I'll raise to 20 thousand dollars."

As Caleb spoke, he looked at Matthew to taunt him to call again. The latter added two more chips to the pot without hesitation.

Matthew didn't look at his card. It was all about the adrenaline rush this round. Sebastian hesitated before folding.

Then, it was Caleb's turn again. He added another 20 thousand dollars into the pile. "I check for 20 thousand dollars."

Matthew tossed in four chips and stated, "Show your cards."

With that, Matthew flipped over his cards first. He had the Ace of Spades, King of Hearts, and Queen of Diamonds.

Matthew was surprised. That was a pretty strong hand. If he had seen his cards, he'd have raised the bet. If Caleb cheated, he would've had a straight flush. Even the smallest straight flush beat a straight. Matthew had a strong feeling about his guess. Caleb showed his hand, showing 4, 5, and 6 of clubs. He yelled, "Oh my goodness! It's a straight flush. I've won."

Matthew was utterly speechless. He was certain that Caleb had cheated. If Caleb followed the typical patterns of grifters, he'd win three times and lose once before passing it to another player to be the dealer. Matthew only stood a chance when Caleb was no longer the dealer, and he became one. For the next two rounds, Matthew checked his cards before folding.

After Jane dealt and won a hand, it was soon Matthew's turn to be the dealer.

As Matthew held his cards, he was filled with confidence. As he shuffled, he figured out the card values and started dealing.

Matthew dealt himself the Ace of Hearts first. As he was about to give a card to Sebastian, he casually glanced at Caleb.

With just a quick look, Matthew furrowed his brows. Matthew noticed that Caleb was looking right at his card. Something felt off. Was there a mark on the back of the cards?

As Matthew was handing out the cards, he discreetly observed Caleb's eyes. He had a weird feeling that there wasn't a flicker of emotion in them.

With the discovery, Matthew thought about Caleb's state recently and yesterday. He became even more convinced that something was wrong with Caleb's eyes.

Upon realizing this, Matthew became more cautious. For the next three rounds, Matthew dealt cards with lower values to Caleb, and the latter immediately folded.

In the fourth round, Matthew decided to go all out and dealt Caleb three Aces. He gave three Kings to Sebastian and handed Ace-high straight flush to Jane. Then, Matthew dealt himself 2, 3, and 6 of the same suit.

Caleb, Sebastian, and Jane had impressive hands, but Jane topped the round with a straight flush. Sebastian ranked second with a Three of a Kind. Caleb's cards totally beat Sebastian with the best set of Three of a Kind.

Only Matthew's hand seemed totally

off. They were ridiculously low. If Matthew's Six of Clubs was

swapped to Five of Clubs, then an et

2-3-5 would be a special hand. It would actually outmatch Caleb's Three of a Kind.

Unfortunately, it had turned out to be a 6, leaving him with the weakest hand that round.

Despite that, he pretended to look excited. "I'm keeping my cards face down. This is my round. 100 thousand dollars." Then, Matthew tossed ten chips on the table.

Spotting three Queens in his hands, Sebastian couldn't hide his excitement. "I'll call for 200 thousand dollars.noveldrama

Caleb glanced at the cards of the other players, and his face lit up with excitement. The opportunity had arrived. "I choose not to reveal my hands. I'll call for 100 thousand dollars."

After looking at her hand, Jane quickly put in 20 chips. "Call."

Matthew was secretly thrilled. He tossed 20 chips into the pot. "I'm pretty sure I got this round in the bag. If you think you can handle it, keep raising with me."

Sebastian shook his head. He was confident that Matthew would lose. He had King Three of a Kind, which made him unbeatable.

Having both Ace Three of a Kind and King Three of a Kind in one round was nearly impossible. So Sebastian knew he had to win.

"400 thousand dollars."

Caleb felt like he was about to burst with excitement. He had dealt himself a hand like this before, but it was the first time someone else had given him such a good hand.

He chanted in his mind, "Don't fold. We have to see this through to the end. The bigger the bet, the better."

With a second thought, Jane slid a stack of chips into the pot. "200 thousand dollars."

Watching the other three players play right into his trap, Matthew raised his hand and pushed all his chips forward.

"All in! That's one million dollars. I seriously doubt you all dare to keep going."

Matthew seemed to have gone crazy, ready to risk everything in this one hand.

Upon seeing this, Sebastian was taken aback for a moment. Everyone had exchanged one million dollars in chips.

Matthew betted one million dollars

with his hand hidden, while

Sebastian had already shown his hands. He would need a staggering amount of two million dollars to continue. Right then, he just didn't have enough money.

Sebastian checked his cards once more. After making sure it was three Kings, he turned to Jane. "I'm short on chips. Can you lend me a million dollars?"

Jane had been waiting for this moment.

With a troubled look, she replied, "I've already lent you two million dollars before, Sebastian. Adding on

the one million dollars you borrowed today, you owe me three million dollars.

"If you can't come up with something valuable as collateral, I can't lend you anymore."

Sebastian felt a rush of anxiety. With such a great hand, he was about to win but had no money to back it

up. He urgently shouted, "I'll put my house as collateral!"

Sporting a smile, Jane added, "You've already put the house up as collateral."

After a moment of hesitation, Sebastian pulled out a plastic bag from his side, and inside it was a book. "I have this book. I've shared the secret remedy for treating kidney problems with many of the

ove

gamblers here. It comes from this book.

"This book is priceless. Right now, I'm using it as collateral with you."

After finished speaking, Sebastian tossed the book on the table. The book wrapped in the plastic bag landed on the table.

In the transparent plastic bag, the two words on the book cover stood out. It was "Integrative Medicine".
