The Great Medical Saint

When Matthew saw the words "Integrative Medicine" printed on the cover of the book, he couldn't be more flabbergasted.

He had been asking Sebastian about that particular book some time back, but Sebastian had told him that he didn't know anything about it.

Yet, here he was, using the sacred tome of the Thermodra Sect as a bet! Simply outrageous!

Matthew felt the terrifying urge to snatch the Integrative Medicine and run away with it, but he subdued it very quickly. The medical literature was right there, and he was confident to win with his cards.

At the same time, Caleb had let out a surprised look with much subtlety-so much so that it would go unnoticed if no one paid attention to him.

Right after, he switched his expression and mocked, "Sebastian, you're not trying to say that this book is worth a million dollars, are you?"

At that, Sebastian's bearded face twisted into a judgmental look. "Don't talk if you don't know its value. This book is worth more than ten million. You can feel free to let someone else appraise it if you don't believe me."

Caleb looked at Jane and said, "This is your ground. If I win, I want to trade this book for a million dollars here. If you won't allow it, I won't accept the estimated value of a million dollars for this book."

Jane picked up the plastic bag that contained the medical literature and waved it about. As the plastic rustled, she put on a troubled expression and said, "Seb, I trust you.

"But... you can't use this book in exchange for money here no matter how valuable it is."

Then, Jane switched the topic. "However, I believe that your character is worth one million dollars alone, so I'll place the bet on you. That should do the trick, right?"

Sebastian smiled and replied, "Don't worry. My cards are pretty good, so I'll pay off all my debts in one go later on."

Jane returned a smile and said, "Is that so? You're making me nervous with all that confidence. Let's continue."

Sebastian's bargaining chip of two million dollars was actually considered to be enough, but Caleb raised the stakes without hesitation when his turn came.

"Let's keep it under the table. One million."

Out of the four players, three of them had already raised the stakes, and the only person left was Jane. Jane glanced at the cards in her hands and looked at the other three in hesitation. She had an Ace-high straight flush, which meant that she would win as long as none of the other three had a Three of a Kind in their hands.

Thinking of the probability of the gamble, she concluded that it was almost impossible for any of them to hold a Three of a Kind.noveldrama

As such, she generously raised the stakes and said, "I'm in for two million dollars."

Right after she had spoken, she pushed all of her chips into the pot. There was a total of 7.8 million dollars worth of chips in the pot as of now.

But if they were to raise the stakes according to the true value of the Integrative Medicine, the value of the chips would be immeasurable.

It was the first time Matthew had played so big, so he got a little nervous. Yet, he felt somewhat excited as well.

Even so, he didn't rush to reveal his

hands. Instead, he was waiting for everyone else to reveal their cards, and conclude the final outcome before he revealed his own. Otherwise, he would have lost if

Caleb cheated after he revealed his

cards.

Sebastatian's hand was King Three of a Kind, and he got so excited that his face was flushed red. He then swept his eyes across the other three in eagerness.

Meanwhile, Caleb continued to sit in silence. He had never once looked at his cards from the beginning till the end.

When Jane noticed that none of the three were revealing their hands, she flipped open her cards and smacked them hard onto the table. It was an Ace-high straight flush!

Jane then exclaimed excitedly, "I'm the winner as long as none of you have Three of a Kind, and I don't believe that any of you can come up with Three of a Kind!"

After she had spoken, she glanced at the other three and let out a gleeful smile, as if she had won the game.

Just then, Sebastian cleared his throat and said, "I'm sorry, but I have Three of a Kind!"

Soon enough, he threw three of his cards onto the table. It was a Triple King!

At once, the smile on Jane's face froze. "Three Kings? No one will be able to beat you! It's too fucking miserable!"

She seemed to have forgotten to keep up with her persona and straight-up cursed aloud.

Well, it hadn't been easy for her to acquire an Ace-high straight flush for once, but she had lost the round ever with it! She couldn't believe that she had actually lost!

Sebastian then glanced over at Caleb. He had never taken Matthew seriously and thought that the results of the latter winning were all due to the tricks others had set up.
