The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 485

Matthew sighed. "He's not really tough. Maybe he's taken so many slashes that he's not scared of getting hurt anymore."

Had Sebastian suffered so many slashes? Renae couldn't believe it, wondering how many times Sebastian had been hurt to be viewed that way.

If being aggressive didn't do the trick, Renae was out of ideas. "What do we do from here then?" Matthew didn't have any better ideas as well. "Looks like I'll be sticking around to join him for card games tonight."

...

Under the cover of the night, three cars were parked at the entrance of an alley. Leo got into one of them. Upon seeing Leo, Dominic tossed him a cigarette. "Did you get the scoop on Matthew's background?" Leo's expression lit up with excitement. "I found something."

Dominic's interest was piqued. "What's the deal with Matthew?"

Besides them, Lucien tossed aside his phone and leaned closer. He stared intently at Leo, waiting for him to spill the beans.

A hint of disdain crossed Leo's face. "I was under the impression he was a pretty important person, but my findings surprised me. I can't believe he is just a bumpkin."

Bumpkin? Dominic was taken aback. "Just a bumpkin?"

Leo grinned and added, "You guys didn't see that coming, did you? I didn't either. He lives at Silverbrook Village located in the Brackenridge district of Lambda City.

"Given who he is, he's not even worth my time. Seriously, the mission wants us to protect him?"

"Fuck!" Leo couldn't hold back from cursing. "Who would've thought he is just a bumpkin? And he's acting all high and mighty.

"You know what? For the past couple of days, he's been acting like I'm just a janitor, and it really ticks me off. I'm a captain, for fucks sake!"

Dominic's expression turned cold. "Don't even get me started. I'm a major, yet I have been pushed around by him too.

"Hold up... Something doesn't add up. If he's just a bumpkin, why are we assigned to protect him? He's definitely more than he seems."

Leo indifferently remarked, "Yes. He

has another identity. He was the founder of Evergreen Group. Later,

he ended up in prison for three years because of accounting issues.

"He got out of prison not long ago, whereas his wife divorced him and took over the company. He can't

even handle that. What a joke."

Dominic scoffed. "If he can't even deal with that, what else does he have?"

Leo suddenly piped up in a secretivenoveldrama

tone. "Things got even more amusing. He ended up getting engaged to a stunning female president of a group. Now, he's

working as a chauffeur like a kept

man."

A kept man? Dominic broke into laughter. "Fuck! He really doesn't look like it. I can't imagine him living off someone else. Tell me the whole story."

Looking intrigued, he took out a cigarette and lit it up. Then, he took his time listening to the story as he puffed away.

Leo continued, "The whole conflict with Isaac started because of Rachel. When she learned about Isaac's background, she got scared and dumped Matthew right away.

"Later, she got engaged to Isaac. Maybe that was why Matthew was so bitter and ended up taking out Isaac.'

After hearing the entire story,

Dominic stared at Leo with his eyes wide open. "So that's how it all went down? I thought Matthew had some impressive background. Turns out he's just a bumpkin.

"Dammit! I'm a major. Can you believe a bumpkin is bossing me around to handle the bodies and clean

up the scene? Worse yet, he's living off another woman."

Lucien lost it and flung the car door open. "Matthew just entered the card room. Let's haul him out and teach him a lesson."
