Chapter 1294
Because Lauren still had to wear an arm sling, she wore a navy blue tube top and skort combo with a simple but elegant cape making her look beautiful and demure. On the other hand, Yvette was dressed in a thin white jumper and blue pinafore dress, with white pantyhose and blue leather shoes, slinging an adorable bunny handbag across her shoulder. Right then, she was holding the bunny in her arms while leaning against Lauren as she looked around curiously, blinking her big round eyes, all gorgeous and sweet, the epitome of adorable.
Willy held Lauren in his arms while Lauren held their daughter's hand. The scene of the family of three standing together was a sight to behold.
Alfred got up when Vanessa did, visibly shocked beyond words as they looked at the toddler.
"Mom, Dad-"
A cold snort came as Willy began speaking, "Hmph!"
It was only then Lauren noticed everyone was on the couch, even Kayden, who was also visibly gobsmacked; nearly everyone's attention was on the little girl half-hiding behind Lauren.
Pulling Lauren closer to him, Willy turned to his grandfather. "Grandpa, I've brought Lauren- no, I've brought my wife and daughter home!"
He had hurriedly signed the marriage certificate with Lauren before they came; one, to reassure her; two, to shut his family up!
This time, he was well above board!
Willy glanced at her as he gently nudged her forward before lowering his head to coax Yvette out. "Yvette, say hi to Great-grandpa..."
Though breathing nervously, Lauren still plucked up her courage to greet Mr. Bowles. "Grandpa..."
After a pause, Lauren greeted again, with an even softer voice this time. "Mom, Dad!"
She glanced over to Yvette, who didn't balk. "Good evening, Great-grandpa!"
Then she glanced over to Alfred, Vanessa, and Kayden. "Good evening, Uncle, Aunt, Handsome Uncle..."
Amused, everyone burst into laughter; even Willy and Lauren couldn't help smiling. She squatted down, pulled her into her arms, then whispered. "This is Grandpa, Grandma, and..."
Right as Lauren wondered how Kayden was related to Willy, Willy continued, "Uncle Kayden!"
Children clearly say what they thought; though her salutation was off, everyone was evidently amused, even Kayden smiled.
Tilting her head as she swept her gaze across them, she greeted again, "Good evening, Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Kayden! Good evening, GreatGrandpa!"
She was obviously taught well, knowing to greet others upfront and very well-mannered. Plus, she was gorgeous; it was hard not to like her. Very quickly, even Mr. Bowles smiled.
"Hmm, come here..."
As Mr. Bowles beckoned her, Yvette looked back at Lauren and Willy before trotting over. She then climbed up the couch, sitting next to Mr. Bowles, removing the piece of paper scrap stuck to his sleeve.
"Great-Grandpa!"
Then she climbed down, wanting to throw it into the trash can aside. But right as she turned, she accidentally knocked a few peanut shells off the coffee table.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it! Don't be angry, Greatgrandpa..."
"It's alright; I'll have someone..." Clean up!
Pil?
Before Vanessa finished her words, hand still midair, Yvette already squatted down to pick them up and threw them into the trash can, throwing any bits that didn't make it into the trash back in, only patting her hands clean after she finished cleaning up. Then she stood aside, looking at Lauren with her head hung low like she had done
something wrong. Content belongs
Her simple action made everyone's jaw drop, but of course, loving her even more. In a flash, Mr. Bowles's gaze changed as he asked a servant to bring a damp towel over before beckoning Yvette to him again.
"Come here, little one!"
Yvette wasn't too shy about meeting new people, looking hesitantly over to Lauren before trotting over to Mr. Bowles. "Great-grandpa..."
As brilliant as she usually was, she didn't lean against Mr. Bowles but stopped a couple of inches from him.
Instantly, her shrewdness shocked everyone. This child was so sensible!
Mr. Bowles was grinning from ear to ear when he held her hand, reprimanding as he wiped her hands.
"Why are you all standing there? Look at all of you; none of you are even as sensible as my little great-granddaughter!"
Seeing that his grandfather's tone changed, Willy helped Lauren to the couch. Meanwhile, Kayden twitched his lips, obviously upset.
There was a saying, grandparents feel more connected to their grandchildren, and right then, there was nothing Mr. Bowles didn't like about Yvette.
After picking her up to sit her down beside him, he looked over to Lauren, tapping the armrest as he asked, "You taught her well; didn't dishonor the Bowles family name! I heard you had a criminal record?"
Lauren's face blanched at that, and Willy nearly instantly spoke up. "Grandpa-"
"I didn't ask you!"
Facing his intimidating stance and hints of displeasure in his stern tone, Lauren shuddered inwardly before answering him, "Yes, Grandpa! But more accurately, a chastened mistake rather than a criminal record."
Lauren pointed out the difference between the two with a brief, deferential reply. Yes, she had been locked up there was no denying it but the case had been turned over, and her reputation had been

straightened. So technically, she did have a blemish, but it couldn't be called a 'criminal record' as she never committed any crimes. noveldrama
Seeing that she was quite responsible, not crying or cowering either, Mr. Bowles said nothing, quite impressed as well. Plus, Yvette shrewdly tugged on his sleeve, easing the tension a lot.
"Mm..."
Mr. Bowles finally hummed softly a long while later. Just as everyone was on pins and needles, waiting for what would follow, he changed the subject, "What's with your arm?"
Hearing that, Willy heaved a long
sigh of relief. They would've overcome half the obstacles when they'd gotten the thumbs-up from him! Though he had put his mind to it, things would still get very ugly if he had to fight his entire family, and it wasn't something he wished to see!
Right as Lauren looked down, Yvette spoke up.
"Great-grandpa, it's all my fault. I was playful, and Mommy fell because she tried to save me! Don't scold Mommy, please? Scold me. I was naughty; I didn't listen to Mommy..."
Mr. Bowles's stern expression instantly softened when he turned to stroke her hair.
"Is that so? I wasn't scolding your Mommy, and I won't scold you either. Our little one is the best. No need to be scared..."
What a one-eighty! Seeing that Yvette's gaze was fixed on the colorful pastries on the table, nothing but childish innocence beneath her eyes, Mr. Bowles brought the plate to her.
"Are you hungry, little one?"
What do you think?
