Amused by the hint of helplessness in his tone, Lauren couldn't help chuckling, "Haha, finally, someone who can keep you in check..." There was really nothing anybody could do when Yvette actually got headstrong! Thank goodness she was rather gentle and won't throw a fit unexpectedly.

Willy squinted his eyes subtly, then hugged her tightly.

"Outside, I fear nothing, but at home, I fear everything! Laurie, I'm scared that I can't protect you guys, scared that you guys will get hurt, scared-"

That he'd lose her and Yvette!

Before he could finish his words, Lauren covered his mouth with her hands, then shook her head lightly.

"There will always be bumps in our lives; this is just a little accident! Who can we rely on if even you can't do it? Willy, don't sell yourself short. We're a family; I believe in you!"

She wasn't sure if her injury got her heart softening, but she never thought of giving up no matter how tired she had been lately. Seeing how attentive he had been toward her and their daughter, she was very touched deep down!

Putting herself in his shoes, she was already quite content when he, a man, could do to this extent!

Thinking he was only in the moment, not knowing the inside story of the accident, she suggested, "I want to go out for a walk, get some fresh air!" She was sure a mushroom would grow on her body if she continued to coop up here!

"Okay!"

With that, Willy supported her as they slowly left the ward, chatting until they entered the elevator. But right as the doors closed, Lauren subconsciously hummed.

"Huh?"

"What is it?"

She shook her head but still furrowed her brows a little. "It's nothing..."

After exiting the elevator, they walked for a bit before Lauren subconsciously stopped in her tracks and looked behind her. "Is it me, or is someone following us?"

Alerted by her question, Willy scanned their surroundings only to see the elevator and corridor filled with coming and leaving passers-by, none familiar in sight, nor were there any out of the

ordinary.

"Could it be that your brain is still starting up since you had just woken up?"

"Maybe! Let's go..."

Lauren tapped her head, not overthinking, while Willy got fretful despite his nonchalant front. Could it be that that person hasn't given up? During their stroll, he texted Lexx to receive a reply from him when they were heading back.

"Checked surveillance; all ok!"

He had also deliberately kept an eye out but found nothing unusual, so he had no choice but to put the matter aside for now. On their way back, he probed Lauren on the situation that day.

"Laurie, I never asked you in detail. How did you and Yvette fall down the stairs?"

"How else? Yvette got playful. I have no idea what's gotten into her. She dashed on her skateboard like mad and even skated all the way to the stairway. I couldn't call her back no matter how. She was already falling when I got to her, so I threw myself at her! Honestly, she looks all ladylike; why would she like to play with these things? She won't grow up into a rascal, will she? What a headache!"

"Haha, she's only three, and you expect her to already act like a lady? It's good that she's bubbly!

Girls change when they reach womanhood! I'd rather she's a bit of a rascal lest she gets bullied..."

As the idea of his gorgeous daughter ending up with some man hit him, he suddenly wished that she wouldn't grow up so quickly!

"Haha, it's only been a few days, and you are already feeling sorry for your daughter? Have you forgotten how you 'bullied' me?" With that, she withdrew her hand and mercilessly poked at his heart.

He was probably the only one who would 'bully' in prison.

Willy held her hand and pressed it to his chest.

"I've only ever earnestly bullied one my entire life; I have to bear the responsibility! And now that I've got a little one of my own, I have to lead by example! Laurie, let's... get married! We'll hold a wedding after you've recovered!"

Lauren nodded with a smile as they stared into each other's eyes.

Willy first accompanied her to take an x-ray and a follow-up with the doctor before returning to their private ward to order cake and make coffee, having a little date.

Lauren's mobility was challenged with one hand still in the arm sling, especially needing help during her meals. Taking a sip of the coffee, she couldn't help smiling as she looked at the fresh flower cake on the table.

"Yvette will definitely go crazy if she sees this! Is this a proposal?"

"No, just a regular high tea! Two proposals, but neither used. We'll leave the grandeur to the wedding this time!"

Something came to him, and he pulled a wide ring box out of his bag, revealing two diamond rings for women.

"One for Lauren and the other for Tevye! No matter what you look like, I'm destined never to be able to escape your grasp! Thank you for coming back to me; thank you for giving me the most wonderful gift in the world. Thank you for appearing in my life-"

Gently caressing her gorgeous face, he was about to say 'I love you' when a series of trotting followed by a joyful, melodious voice came from behind him.

"Mommy... Mommy!"

Before Willy could even process what was going on, a tiny pinkish figure already threw herself onto Lauren's legs, nuzzling her tiny head in them, smiling, looking all blissful.

The happiest thing for a child was probably being by their mother's side!

Exchanging a glance, Lauren froze for a second. "Yvette? Why did you come back so early?"

"Home time, Mommy! I didn't skip class!"

Yvette tilted her head, already fixing her gaze on the cake on the table, smacking her lips unconsciously.

After putting Yvette's backpack aside, the servant assigned to pick Yvette up, Carmen, came up to them. "Miss Lauren, have you forgotten? The kindergarten is renovating starting from today. The students will be dismissed an hour earlier this entire month."

"Oh, yeah..."

Recalling something, Lauren couldn't help blushing a little as she looked at Carmen. However, when she inadvertently looked away, she saw two strange men. Despite only appearing for a second, she still noticed they were with Carmen.

What was going on? Were they bodyguards? Why the sudden addition only to pick a child up?

Feeling a sudden warmth on her waist, she looked down only to see her little one tugging on the corner of her shirt, nuzzling against her body, on the verge of drooling.

"Mommy..."

Chuckling, Lauren looked over to Willy as though saying, "What did I just say?"

Getting the message, Willy cut out a small slice of the cake and handed it to her. At that, Yvette glanced at Lauren and began eating right after taking the plate. In no time, her gorgeous face was covered in cream and crumbs.

Pulling Lauren's hand over, Willy put the ring with the simple design onto her ring finger before slicing a

mouthful of cake and serving it to t

her. But midway, Yvette stretched her neck and pulled his hand over to her taking it for herself. Seeing so, Willy and Lauren couldn't help bursting into laughter.

"You really are a little glutton..."

"Yeah, thinking about my slice while eating yours!"

Despite shaking her head, leaning against Lauren's front, the smile on her face was innocent and wonderful. Towards the end, Yvette suddenly remembered something and sent the last tiny bit of cake to Lauren's mouth.

"Mommy, eat..."

Despite her offer, unwillingness still oozed out her craving little face. Seeing right through her, Lauren pretended to take a bite with a smile. "Okay, I've taken a bite. You eat!"

Maybe because she had been unyielding about her dessert intake, Yvette's eyes would shine with excitement when she saw a cake.

The big piece of cake basically all ended up in Yvette's little belly. Willy was already very much content, even just looking at the two ladies n front of him. After Lauren drank her coffee. Willy fed her some fruit. Though Yvette would steal a bite or two every now and then, their family time gave him unprecedented joy and happiness.

Right as Willy finished cleaning up what remained from their afternoon tea, a light knock came from the door. "Come in!" Seeing his family's butler as he turned around, he inexplicably stumped for a second. "Jorman, what brings you here?"

How did he know where he was?

"Has something happened?"

"Rest assured, Mr. Willy. Everything's

fine! Mr. Bowles, he... heard what happened with Miss Yvette and had me come over! He said you have to bring Miss Lauren and Miss Yvette home tonight no matter how busy you are. There's a feast waiting for you at home."

Shocked, Lauren's heart was in her mouth right then, and she subconsciously held Yvette tighter in her arms, wondering, "Has his family already

found out? It won't be a white vengeance, will it?"

"Okay, got it! I'll get ready and bring them over later!"

Jormen duly left after a bow. But when the door closed, Lauren noticed he still hadn't left.

Right when Willy returned, Lauren held his hand tightly. "Now what? Will everything be okay? Yvette is still so little..."

Would their family be patriarchal? Would things still be like how they first met? She didn't want Yvette hurt in any way.noveldrama

At that, she began panicking, unable to sit still. "Ouch..."

"Don't move! Don't panic; I'm here!"

Grabbing her shoulder, he planted a kiss on her forehead.

"I won't let you and Yvette get separated no matter what! Trust me, I won't let you face this alone or leave you guys ever again!"

After pulling Yvette into his lap, he put his arm over Lauren's shoulder.

"Even if my parents and grandfather won't accept you guys, you're still all I want! No one in this world can break us, break our family apart!"

He had to give his woman happiness; he had to let his daughter grow up in a happy, loving environment!

"Okay!"

Receiving reassurance that instant, Lauren grabbed his shirt but subconsciously gasped.

After washing up and changing their clothes, they headed to the Bowles's residence.

Seeing that the place looked deserted, deadly silent, when they entered, Lauren's heart turned cold instantly. Yvette, on the other hand, was clearly

uneasy being in an unfamiliar environment, sticking to Lauren's leg, holding her hand tightly.
