Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia)

Chapter 1291

Lauren threw herself at Yvette and intuitively pulled her into her arms, shielding her from harm's way before they went tumbling down. Willy heard a booming 'thump' as he exited the elevator and the floor seemingly shook the next split second.

Before he could process what just happened, a series of chaotic footsteps accompanied by a heartrending bawl traveled to his ears.

"Miss Lauren!"

"Mommy! Mommy! Wah..."

Laurie?

Instantly, Willy dashed toward the stairwell, his sanity out the window, only to see Lauren lying on the floor. Two bodyguards stood beside her, not knowing how to help her, while Yvette tugged on her shirt, bawling.

"Laurie..."

Blood drained from Willy's face as he rushed downstairs and knelt beside her, holding her in his arms. He first patted her face to wake her up before checking her pulse on her neck.

"Laurie, wake up..."

"What are you guys just standing there for? Call a doctor!"

Picking Lauren up, Willy glared behind him, and the caretaker hurriedly picked Yvette up while a bodyguard helped Willy, leaving the other one dashing upstairs.

"Doctor, doctor!"

The medical staff pushed a patient trolley over as Willy brought Lauren back upstairs, and suddenly her eyes opened. "Yvette... Baby..." Holding her hand, Willy hurriedly took Yvette from the caretaker. "Don't worry, she's fine! Hang in there, Laurie!"

"Mommy..."

Clearly frightened, Yvette bawled her eyes out, showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. Seeing the two in front of her, Lauren slowly put her raised hand down and closed her eyes.

"Doctor!"

Following that, the group hurriedly pushed the trolley into the elevator, straight to the emergency room. Willy's face was grim to the core as he held Yvette in his arms.

After the emergency room door closed, Willy hurriedly brought Yvette further away to comfort her.

"It's okay, Yvette, don't cry. Mommy is exhausted; she'll need to sleep for a while. You'll disturb her if you cry. Don't cry, okay?"

"There, there, daddy's here!"

"Everything's going to be okay, Yvette, don't cry anymore, okay?"

Willy's mind was all over the place as he did a quick check on Yvette in his arms. "Are you hurt anywhere, Yvette? Tell Daddy."

Stifling her sobs, Yvette bit her lips and shook her head.

Doing another quick check on her, Willy eased a little, seeing that though her hair was ruffled and parts of her body got dusty, she didn't greatly react when he squeezed her tiny limbs.

Thank heavens she wasn't injured, falling from such a tall flight of stairs! Lauren had probably cushioned her with her whole body.

He held his breath as the thought came to him. Seeing that Yvette had calmed down a little, no longer sobbing as she had been, he picked her up again.

"Listen, Yvette, Daddy will take you to a doctor for a checkup. We'll be able to see Mommy when you come back. Be a good girl and listen to the doctor, okay?"

Seeing she nodded, Willy had someone keep an eye on the situation in the emergency room while he brought Yvette to a pediatrician for a thorough examination and quick x-ray scan.

The red light above the door was still brightly lit when they rushed back. Unprecedentedly nervous, Willy held his baby girl tightly in his arms as he paced back and forth by the door, his heart in his mouth the entire time.

Soon, the emergency room door opened.

"Doctor, how's my wife? Is she okay?"

The doctor slightly panted as he took his mask off, seemingly exhausted, explaining after taking a breath.

"The patient has multiple abrasions on her body; fractured arm and a few hairline fractures. Something has cut her right arm open as well. We took some time cleaning the wound, but it has been stitched up. Fortunately, she didn't injure any of her organs or vital parts. As far as we can see, her injuries are mostly superficial. It seems that the patient has some knowledge of selfprotection. But because of the severe impact, she has signs of a mild concussion. Coupled with blood loss and anesthetic, she's currently semiconscious. Everything can only be confirmed after the patient wakes up. Have her hospitalized for a few days for observation for now."

"Okay, good, thank you, doctor!"

Willy's eyes red-rimmed from oncoming tears as he spoke, voice evidently quivering. Thank the heavens.

Lauren was transferred to the ward that evening. Willy felt as though his heart had been torn into pieces as he looked at his bandage- riddled beloved, holding Yvette in his arms as they kept vigil by her bedside.

"Laurie, I'm sorry... Things wouldn't be like this if I came and picked you guys up sooner..."

"Please wake up soon. Yvette and I are waiting for you!"

Right as Yvette reached her hand out, wanting to pounce on Lauren, Willy hurriedly pulled her back.

"Yvette, we can't touch Mommy's arm! Good girl, don't touch Mommy; she'll be in pain! Are you hungry, Yvette? Why don't I take you out for dinner?" Willy's heart ached as he looked at Yvette; they hadn't even had dinner yet with all that had happened.

"No, I don't want dinner. I want to wait for Mommy..."

Seeing she got teary-eyed again as she spoke, Willy felt worse. "We'll eat here while we keep an eye on Mommy! You'll only have the energy to take care of Mommy if you eat up, right?"

He had someone bring some dinner

over while he coaxed Yvette. Seeing that she clearly experienced the fright of her life, only holding the bread in her hand instead of eating as she fixed her gaze on her mother, Willy put a straw through a milk carton and brought it to her mouth.

"Have some milk and eat while we wait for Mommy to wake up, okay, baby girl?"

Yvette smacked her lips and took two sips of the milk, at least, listening to him.

They sat by the bed for a long time that night. Lauren still hadn't woken up when Yvette could no longer keep her eyes open. After taking her to the small bed next door, Willy went to the infirmary with a troubled mind, only resting his head on the edge of the bed after making sure there was nothing worrying about her injuries.

Willy was awoken by the sound of crying the following day. He saw Yvette bawling as she tugged on a corner of Lauren's shirt the moment he opened his eyes.

"Mommy, don't ignore me. I'll be a good girl..."

"Mommy, I'm sorry. I won't play outside ever again!"

"Mommy, wake up. I'll listen; I won't run around ever again. I'm sorry; I won't ride my skateboard ever again. Wah... Mommy, don't leave me. I only want Mommy..."

"Wah... I won't look at clowns anymore!"

"Mommy, forgive me, please. Don't be angry with me anymore..."

"I'm sorry; I'm a bad girl. I got Mommy hurt because I was playful. Wah... Mommy... Mommy!"

"Yvette?" Why was she up so early?

With that, Willy got up, walked to the other side of the bed, and picked his daughter up.

"There, there, Yvette, don't cry. Mommy loves you so much; no way she'll ignore you. Don't cry, okay? Mommy's just tired. She'll talk to you when she wakes up."

"You're a big kid now, Yvette, don't cry, okay? Daddy will sleep with you, okay?"

Yvette rubbed her eyes but couldn't stop bawling.

"Daddy, I'm really sorry. I won't play outside ever again. Tell Mommy not to ignore me, please? Mommy opened her eyes, but she won't talk to me. Wah..."

"What did you just say?" Had Lauren woken up?

Willy reflexively looked over to Lauren, only to see her eyes still shut, but she also seemed to have moved very subtly.

"Mommy saw me just now. I called her, but she ignored me. Wah... She's definitely angry at me! I was a bad girl. I shouldn't have gone and looked at the clown. Mommy wouldn't fall if I didn't go..."

"Wah... Daddy, I'm sorry, but I didn't do it on purpose. The clown pulled me!"

"I'm really really sorry. Wah... I'm scared. I want Mommy..."

"I won't ride my skateboard and look at clowns again...'

"

Willy initially thought she was only talking nonsense from being frightened, but as she repeated a few crucial words, he shuddered and became wide

awake right then.

Children were the worst liars! Could it be that it was not an accident at all?

Sweeping his gaze at his wounded beloved before landing it back on his teary-eyed daughter, Willy pulled a piece of tissue to wipe her face and kissed her forehead.

"There, there, Yvette, don't cry. I'll help you wake Mommy up when the sun is out later, okay?"

Yvette nodded, then nodded heavily once more before wiping her tears away and stifling her sobs a couple of times, wide-eyed, looking all hopeful

and expectant.

"Then you're a good girl, right, Yvette? Good girls don't lie. Daddy's going to ask you a few questions, and you have to tell me everything, okay? I can only put in a good word for you and let Mommy not be mad at you if you tell me, okay?"noveldrama

Seeing that she nodded solemnly, Willy straightened his thoughts. "You were riding your skateboard in the corridor with Mommy yesterday, right?" Willy knew how much Yvette loved riding her skateboard. Upon asking that question, he could tell that Yvette was trying to recall what she and Lauren had come across the day before. Seeing that she nodded, he pressed on, "Where did you see the clown? What color was his shirt?"

"Behind the door! Yellow, red, and green..."

Shocked by her words, he couldn't help wondering, "Was there really someone else in the stairway? But Lauren wasn't the only adult there when I got there. How could none of them have seen him?"

After quick thinking, he speculated the clown must've used the door as a blind spot to hide upstairs while everyone ran down!

Yeah, Lauren was usually cautious about these things. She rarely let Yvette leave her too far away, much less allow her to go somewhere so dangerous. Plus, Yvette would only ride her skateboard back and forth!

Could it be that someone deliberately lured her there? Chills ran down Willy's spine as the revelation struck him. Who could be so evil that they could

even harm a three-year-old?

F*ck!

If things really were as he speculated, he'd make sure the person beg for death!

"Did you really see it, Yvette? How many clowns were there? One, or a lot? Think carefully; Daddy and Mommy don't like children who lie!"

Pouting upsettingly at his words, Yvette nodded then shook her head.

"I didn't lie! Only one clown, like the ones on the street... red nose! He

had a balloon in his hand. It was small and pink, but he wouldn't give it to me! Mommy called my name, I wanted to go, but he pulled me, and I

fell. But the clowns on the streets would always give me. They'd give me a lot, a lot of balloons, and also magic wands!"
