Their Secret Obsession (A Reverse Harem)

Chapter 0329

Liam's POV

A figure stepped into the doorway-a woman, ethereal and otherworldly. She wore flowing robes of deep emerald that seemed to shimmer with their own inner light. Her skin was pale, almost translucent, and her eyes glowed with an unsettling white intensity. Long hair, the colour of moonlight, cascaded over her shoulders, framing a face that was both hauntingly beautiful and deeply unnerving as she pursed those bright pink lips as if us being here was a nuisance.noveldrama

"Is he dead?" she asked calmly, her voice carrying a melodic yet chilling tone that sent a shiver down my spine. The glimmer in her eyes suggested she already knew the answer. Her gaze held a hint of amusement as if she relished the tension her words created. It was clear she was asking merely for effect, savouring our uncertainty and distress.

Chase and I exchanged a tense glance. Instinctively, I stepped protectively between her and Knox, my muscles tensing. But her eyes remained fixed on Knox, a slight lift to the corner of her lips betraying a hint of smugness. It was as if she knew more about him about all of us-than she let on.

"Knox, I assume," she said, her gaze roaming over him appraisingly. There was an unsettling confidence in her demeanour, as though she held all the cards in a game we didn't even know we were playing.

"Who are you?" I demanded, my voice harsher than intended. "What do you want?" She tilted her head slightly, a curious smile playing on her lips.

"You're in no position to ask questions, but perhaps I can be of assistance," she replied smoothly.

"You?" Chase whispered aimlessly, and I noticed him staring at her intently, a flicker of recognition in his eyes.

"Me." She smiled rather too sweetly for my liking. Looking back at Chase it was as if he had seen her before, though I couldn't fathom how that was possible. His usual bravado seemed diminished in her presence, replaced by a mix of awe and uncertainty. "Can you help him?" Chase interjected, desperation overriding caution. His voice wavered slightly, betraying the depth of his concern.

"Perhaps," she mused, taking a graceful step forward. Her movements were fluid, almost as if she were gliding rather than walking. "But help often comes at a price."

I scoffed inwardly. Of course, there was a price. There always was with beings like her. Stories of deities and spirits demanding steep payments for their aid flashed through my mind. I was well aware of the costs such entities could demand, and I wasn't eager to make a deal without knowing the terms.

My instincts screamed at me not to trust her. The sense of underlying immorality we'd felt since arriving intensified with her presence. But with Knox's life hanging in the balance, what choice did we have?

"Name your price," Chase said quickly, his desperation palpable. He took a step toward her, his fists clenched at his sides. The urgency in his voice was raw, unfiltered.

"All in due time. First, tell me how did you come to be here?" She smiled wider, revealing unnaturally white and sharp canines. I hesitated, glancing at Chase. Confusion swirled in my mind.

"We don't know," I admitted, frustration edging into my tone. "One moment, we were elsewhere, and then there was a bright light." The memory was hazy and disjointed. My head throbbed as I tried to piece it together.

"Interesting. Very interesting," she

murmured, her eyes narrowing

slightly as she studied me. Then she

shifted her gaze to Chase, waiting expectantly. He pursed his lips, remaining silent, his expression guarded. When he offered no further information, I sighed and stepped closer.

"Where is here?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. She laughed softly, a sound that echoed like tinkling bells yet felt cold.

"My home," she replied, as if I'd asked the most obvious question in the world. "And not where you were meant to be." Knox stirred slightly on the bed, a weak groan escaping his lips. His face contorted in pain, and sweat beaded on his forehead. Time was running out. "Please," I implored, my voice cracking. "What is wrong with him?"

She regarded me for a moment, her

expression inscrutable. Then, without a word, she glided over to the bed. noticed that her feet didn't quite touch the floor, as if she were floating just above it. Placing a delicate hand on Knox's forehead, she closed her eyes. A soft glow emanated from her palm

enveloping him in a warm light that

pulsed gently.

The room seemed to hold its breath. I watched as Knox's features relaxed, the tension easing from his face. The ashen pallor of his skin began to fade, replaced by a healthier hue.

"He is dying," she admitted, opening her eyes and taking a step back. "So, will you pay the price needed?"

"What is it?" I asked, my heart pounding. Before I could say more, Chase moved swiftly to her side.

"I will," he declared, his tone firm yet laced with desperation. He climbed onto the bed beside Knox, positioning himself closer to her. There was a frantic intensity in his eyes, a willingness to do whatever it took. She smiled softly, resting a hand on his cheek. For a moment, she appeared almost vulnerable, her gaze tender as she looked at him.

"Very well," she whispered. I watched

in stunned silence as the glow around Knox intensified. His breathing steadied, and when I

pressed my fingers to his wrist, felt a strong, steady pulse beneath his skin. Relief flooded through me, but it was quickly overshadowed by unease.

After a few moments, the light faded, and she withdrew her hand. "He will recover," she stated simply, her tone devoid of emotion.

"Thank you," I said slowly, struggling to process what had just happened. "But why help us?" Confusion and suspicion warred within me. She fixed me with her piercing gaze. "Ask him," she replied, nodding toward Chase.
