Lydia’s chin raised as her face turned cold. “I see how it is. You’re just like your father and, Wire Hain, you will warn the bud way.” She signalled to the men surrounding us. “Kill the blood wolf Make her death dow and pad

“I dare you!” Lydia stepped forward and when Sadie tried and failed to pull the trizzer, the tried to come towntow Immediately, she was held back by two men.

The grenades exploded, causing the ground to quake. Smoke filled the air, mixed with the smell of burns Bath and Boos brought down my hands, my cars ringing despite covering them and by the time I was able to we drafty, most were box, their limb scattered across the ground.
Making sure Sadie was still safe, I noticed the way to the warehouse was free, so I grabbed the bag and ran for it, but before 1 could get to the door, someone pulled me forcefully from behind, making me fall on my back.
I cried out in pain, scrambling back as I watched Adam approach. Slowly, I got up to my feet, feeling a
sharp pain in my ribs that made me bend awkwardly to the side.“We don’t have to do this, Adam.”
Adam’s eyes glowed red, his teeth growing into longer fangs that elongated to his jawline as he transformed to his beastial form. “Oh yesss. We do.” He snarled.
I tried to channel my wolf, but she was still not ready to come out, so I brought out my gun and just as he leapt for me, I pulled the trigger repeatedly, aiming for his chest and face.
Unfortunately, I was unable to get out of the way and he took me down with him, simultaneously knocking the gun out of hand. Blood leaked onto me, soaking my shirt, but before I could react, Adam lowered his head and bit into my shoulder.
My scream pierced the air.
I tried to reach for my knives, but Adam’s body blocked me.
“Ryn!” Sadie yelled, and when I turned to her, I saw struggling to get out of the grip of the two men holding her.
Meanwhile, her mother approached with a glint in her eye. “Kill her!” She prompted, and I could literally feel myself go weak as I began to lose a lot of blood.
Somdow, Sadie managed to get her gun from the waistband of her assailant and with one move, she threw the weapon my
Way
Luckily for me, the gun landed right next to me and before Lydia could lunge for it, I grabbed it, clicked off the safety and emptied the bullets into Adam’s head.
His body went still immediately, and I panted hard as I pushed him off with a cry.
“ADAM!” Lydia screamed, running to his dis–evolving body, and by the time she got to him, he was back to being human.
Sadie, on the other end, ran towards me. “Hey, Ryn. You okay?”
I wasn’t, but 1 nodded positively,
With effort she helped me to my feet, and we watched her mother carry Adam’s body in her laps and arms. “Adam, baby, talk to me” Her voice shook, and I wondered if the ringing in my ears made me hear her right.
Adam Baby!
Sadie shared a glance,
“Why are you calling him baby, Mom?”
Lydia snarled at her child, making us jump back.
“That’s because they are lovers.” A voice said behind us and we turned around to see Mr. Cresswell limping towards us.
His body, although ripped and muscular, was bloody with deep claw marks and bites. The other men who were not really affected by the grenades were already preparing to attack us again, but Mr. Cresswell ordered them to stand down and they obeyed,
“Daddy!” Sadie rushed towards him, concern lacing her voice. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, Pumpkin,” Mr. Cresswell replied before facing his wife. “When did your affair start?”
“None of your business!” Lydia snapped back, but her voice wobbled as if she were close to tears.
“Why?” Mr. Cresswell’s voice broke.
Lydia shrugged while rocking back and forth. “Adam was a better lover than you could ever be!”
“Are you for real?!”
“YES!” Lydia screamed in tears. “You’re always obsessed with your stupid science experiments or obsessed with Ryn or obsessed with her mother. You never had time for me!”
“BECAUSE I WAS WORKING HARD TO GIVE US THE BEST LIFE!” Mr. Cresswell yelled, startling even me. His nostrils flared as he huffed and puffed beside his daughter. “You forget how you spend and shop like there’s no tomorrow, buying unnecessary things on my dime! I work to make that possible! Not once did I ever complain! They say happy wife, happy life and I thought we were happy!”
“When you refused to have more kids, I never complained!” He continued. “Not once did I ever think of cheating on you and yet here you are having an affair with someone old enough to be your son?! The son you denied me!”
I couldn’t wait any longer.
Instead, I slowly took the bag off the floor and, to my luck, I found Adam’s keycard lying on the ground, near Sadie’s feet. Taking it, I moved backwards slowly, grateful that I wouldn’t need to spend precious time short–circuiting the security keypad.
As soon as I got to the building, I used the keycard and immediately que access and as the form dosed boot or deb the bombs in my bag and made peace with the fact that I may not cene on the clarine abne
