The Twin Alphas Warrior Luna (RYN)

Warrior 240

RYN

Pain sliced through my back, hot and sharp like a bite.

I gritted my teeth, willing myself not to give the same man who punched me in the gut the satisfaction of hearing me cry.

Despite the fact that my back was flaming hot, and leaking blood, the rest of my half naked body was cold.

I thought the pain I had felt before was the prime. Now, as my body hung suspended, with my hands tied above me and my feet barely reaching the floor, I felt pain that made me wish I were dead.

Another lash, and a deep long hum escaped me, followed by the erratic beating of my heart. If this man doesn’t stop, I think I’ll die because I’ll rather do that than let him hear me cry.

Suddenly the doors swung open, and in came Mr. Cresswell, tall, slim and with that old school gentlemanly charm. His strides were long and urgent as he crossed the room towards us.

“Blackwell wants to see you, Tommy.” Mr. Cresswell said to him, but the man frowned.

“Why?”

“I don’t know. Go find out.”

Tommy carried the expression of confusion, but he obeyed and just as he passed by Mr. Cresswell, the scientist suddenly grabbed him from the back. Before Tommy could react, Mr. Cresswell slashed his throat with his claws and I watched in shock as Tommy gurgled and struggled in his hold.

Mr. Cresswell held on to him, while slowly lowering him to the ground. “It’s okay. Don’t fight it.” He whispered and as my abuser’s eyes drifted to me, I mustered a smirk which was the last thing he saw before his body went still.

Immediately, Mr. Cresswell rose to his feet, and noticed the blood staining his white lab coat. Then he checked his hands and saw the blood staining them too before wiping them on his coat. Finally, he turned to me, alarm written on his face.

“My Goddess!” He muttered, rushing to the lever holding me up. “Things should have never gotten this far.”

Just then, the door opened again, and my heart jolted, thinking we caught. Instead, to my surprise, I found Sadie

slowly walking. Her mouth agape, as she saw me.

“Ryn?!” She exclaimed, before her eyes landed on the body on the ground and then her blood–stained father, who eventually got the lever working.

Relief and stinging pain flooded through me as I was slowly lowered to the ground and the moment my feet touched the ground, Mr. Cresswell, rushed to catch me and lowered me to the ground. Instantly, he removed his lab coat and began to unbutton his shirt.

“What the hell is going on?!” Sadie asked and her father turned to her.

“Darling, there isn’t much time. Find a knife.”

Thinking quick, Sadie went straight for the body on the floor, hesitated before lowering herself to search his body. Eventually she found a pocket knife which she gave her father, who in turn cut me loose.

After that, he draped his shirt over my body.

“Hey.” Sadie ran to the other side of me, brushing the wet, sweaty strands of hair from my face. “I’m so sorry. I don’t know what’s happening.” She said to me, her eyes glassy with tears. Then she faced her father. “Care to explain what’s going on,

Dad?”

“Not now, Pumpkin.” He said as he rummaged through his lab pocket and brought out a vial. “Here, take this. He said, opening the cap and placing the vial to my lips.

I hesitated, eyeing him warily.

“It’ll bring back your wolf,” He said, and that’s when I took the liquid.

It tasted bitter with a lemon flavour and when it went down my throat, it burned like a mother.

“Now listen to me.” Mr. Cresswell said to his daughter while my body began its healing process. “Your Mom and I made some very terrible mistakes in the past…” He swallowed. “Ryn bore the brunt of what we did.” He twisted his head towards me. “And I am sorry. I am sorry for betraying you and your parents. I’m sorry I was a coward. I’m sorry I tried to use Sadie to get to you.”

“What?” Sadie interrupted. “So, the things you and Mom were arguing about were true?”

Mr. Cresswell sighed and faced his daughter. “Yes.”

The slap was instant and so quick, Sadie looked down at her hand in shock before staring at her father through tears. “You are a monster!” She said, rising to her feet.

“Pumpkin.” Mr. Cresswell moved forward, but Sadie suddenly grabbed the knife used to cut me loose from the floor and pointed it at him.

“Stay away from me!” She yelled, and Mr. Cresswell threw a glance back before turning to her in panic.

“Keep your voice down!” He whispered authoritatively. “I know I’m not your favorite person right now, pumpkin, but I need you to put that aside and help Ryn get out of here alive!”

Sadie blinked before her expression softened. She shoved the knife in her waistband before approaching me. “What’s the plan?” She asked, as she helped me sit up and wore her father’s shirt for me.

I bit my lip to endure the pain burning through my back.

Mr. Cresswell pulled something out of his pocket. “Here, take this.

Sadie collected it slowly. “What’s this?”

“This is a map to follow on your way out. You’ll find a car waiting. In it, you’ll find a bag with some money and your passport. The car will take you out of the kingdom and straight to the North. Hopefully, when all this mess dies down, we’ll finally get to talk.”

“So you’re not coming?” Sadie asked, as she helped me to my feet.

Mr. Cresswell sighed, looking dejected. “I can’t. I love your mother and I can’t leave her. Now go, before they send someone for Tommy.”

Sharing a glance, we proceeded to leave, and Mr. Cresswell rushed to the door to open it for us, but as soon as he did, we came face to face with Mr. Caine and his son. Konan.

Fear gripped my heart, squeezing tight.

The Caines looked at Sadie and I before looking at Mr. Cresswell.

“What’s going on here?” Mr. Caine asked, a hint of anger in his voice.

“Albert, let’s talk about this,” Mr. Cresswell appeased.

“Did you release her?” Mr. Caine asked, “Were you about to let Ryn escape?”

“Sadie, get away from her!” Konan commanded.

“No.” Sadie stated, readjusting my arm around her shoulder. “I’m getting my best friend out of here.”

She moved out of the room, pushing Konan aside with one arm, but he gripped it, stopping us.

“Let me go!” Sadie warned.

Konan’s eyes changed to a red color. “You’re not going anywhere.”

“Let my daughter go!” Mr Cresswell stepped forward, but Mr. Caine blocked his way.

“Or what?!” Mr. Caine said. “You’re a traitor and I am so disappointed in you. I’ll make sure the others hear this!”

“You don’t want to do this!” Mr. Cresswell said, “You’re making a big mistake.”

“Am I?” He arched a brow and just when I thought we were doomed, Mr. Cresswell’s face contorted in anger and suddenly he lunged for Mr. Caine, throwing him to the ground. In that same breath, while Konan was distracted, Sadie yanked her hand away from her mate, turned fully to him and pushed him so hard he flew back several feet across the hallway.

Konan crashed to the floor with a groan, while his father and Sadie’s fought like rabid animals, I reached for Sadie’s hand, already feeling strong enough to stand on my own. “Let’s go.” I prompted, but Sadie stood still, worry and concern on her face as she watched Konan stir on the floor, still groaning in pain.

Then he got to his knees, his spine shifting as he began to transform.

Slowly, I began to take steps back while Sadie subconsciously followed.

Mr. Cresswell, who had been struggling with Mr. Caine, saw him and turned to us, his face completely transformed to that of his wolf. He bared his teeth at us, his eyes a flaming blue. “RUN!”
