The Rise of a Master: It Starts With Rejection

Chapter 940

"Felix, don't worry! You're on an official mission to Martial City. That scoundrel is an unexpected problem, but I'll ensure your safety," the Protector reassured Felix as he handed Felix two tokens.

The Protector explained, "The red token is essential for entering and leaving Martial City. Without it, no one can safely pass through the barriers. Each token only works once before turning to dust, so guard it carefully. They're extremely rare and valuable, even within Martial City."

Felix nodded in understanding as he accepted the tokens, but his attention was drawn to the yellow one. It was round and slightly mysterious.

"The yellow token wasn't something I originally planned to give you," the Protector continued. "It's not ideal for your growth, but given what just happened, I want to ensure your safety above all else."

"If that old man from the Elders' Council comes after you again, don't hesitate to crush this token. Someone will come to your aid immediately."

Felix was unsure whether to feel relieved or concerned. Thanks to the Grand Elder, he had now gained a safety net in the form of this token, though he hoped he would never have to use it.noveldrama

"The barriers randomly transport people to different locations when entering or leaving," the Protector warned. "Stay alert you might face danger immediately upon arrival. Head southeast and take five steps forward to reach the barrier.'

The area ahead looked like an empty wasteland. Nonetheless, the Protector's specific instructions hinted at the mystical nature of Martial City's defenses.

"Thank you, Protector. I'll be going now," Felix said.

Despite the Protector's presence, Xena could not resist giving Felix a farewell embrace. "Take care. I'l wait for your safe return."

"I will," Felix promised.

After five steps, Felix felt the world spin around him. A wave of red energy enveloped him, stabilizing his senses. He realized the red token had activated just in time-without it, the disorientation might have caused serious harm.

Still, the sensation of time passing felt distorted. It was as though only a few minutes had passed, yet it also felt like days had passed. When his vision cleared, Felix found himself standing on a grassy field. Nearby, a winding mountain trail stretched downhill. He murmured to himself, "So, this is Martial City?"

Tall mountains flanked the area, and

the sound of chirping birds filled the air. Everything felt vivid and alive in a way the Capital never could. Felix took a deep breath, feeling an unparalleled sense of refreshment, as though he had stepped into paradise.

"I'll take it one step at a time," Felix decided as he approached the path.

The path opened up as he descended, and the view became clearer. In the distance, a sprawling city came into sight. Skyscrapers stood tall, and the modern architecture blended seamlessly with the surrounding mountains.

It was not the ancient, rustic place Felix had imagined. In fact, it looked almost like an advanced version of the capital.

Just as he reached the bottom of the trail, Felix spotted an old man ahead. The man clutched his chest, moved slowly, and had a pale, drawn face. With trembling hands, the man fumbled in his pocket and pulled out a small bottle, but he collapsed onto the ground before he could open it.

The bottle rolled out of his hand, landing just inches away, but the old man's frail body made it impossible

for him to reach it. He struggled to lift his head, his eyes meeting Felix's as his lips parted.

In a faint, shaky voice, he pleaded, "Help... help me."
