The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage

Chapter 2407

"You idiot!" Ernest snapped. "Do you think I'm an idiot?! I'd never make a living if both of them got killed-don't worry, I've done my homework. The pillars of a hypogeum are plenty sturdy, and I'm just trying to scare them with a little bomb. It's not going to collapse."

That was what Ernest sincerely believed, but his contractors could not really agree.

No one actually knew for sure if the pillars of this particular hypogeum were sturdy. However, they could tell that Sylvie was skeptical, judging from the fact that she did not bring her team with her.

Moreover, this hypogeum had been built over a thousand years ago. Even when it came to modern infrastructure with rebars and concrete, a single explosion could still cause problems.

One of the contractors then said, "You'd best be sure about this. It's quite serious, and there might be consequences."

Ernest snapped at them again, "You're all six feet tall and then some, but you have no balls at all! People would laugh if they knew!"

Snatching a stick of dynamite from a contractor, he lit the fuse and threw it into the tomb.

Startled, everyone promptly turned to run, all while screaming that it was not their fault.

Ernest calmly trudged along behind them, snorting. "Cowards. You're all just embarrassing me now."

However, just as they got some distance away, the fuse ignited.

Boom!

A thunderous rumble ensued, followed by the very earth quaking.

"It's a tremor... shit!"

Some of the contractors promptly noticed the danger, as they were demolition experts and knew how to read such situations.

"What?" Ernest snorted. "It's empty down there. Of course the explosion would be loud."

After all, the dynamite thrown earlier was for controlled explosions, and it would only be effective if placed strategically and with the use of shrapnel. There would not be much shrapnel when thrown so aimlessly, nor would the shockwave cause much damage.

"You don't understand, Mr. Lane." One of the contractors sighed. "The density of the walls around the tomb actually conducts the shockwave effectively. It's like how different it would be if you were wearing an armor of cotton or steel. When punched, the impact would dissipate from the cotton while you'd feel the full impact from the steel armor."

Though Ernest realized that with a start, he shrugged as if to assure himself. "It's just a tremor. The wisdom of the ancients have always been beyond us—I'm sure the sturdiness of the hypogeum is far beyond modern engineering."

One of the contractors was unsure how he should react to that. "Even if it is, the erosion of time is unstoppable. Any construction material would also wear off in time, so it's a miracle anything is intact after a thousand years. How would it survive a shockwave?"

At that point, even Ernest started to feel a creeping sense of dread.

Still, he growled, "I'm warning you boys. No one must breathe a word about this- just pretend that they did it themselves."

The contractors traded glances-there were lives at stake, and Ernest thought keeping it a secret would resolve it?

If he regretted it, why do it at all?

Moreover, even if they kept it a secret, the governments always kept an inventory of the dynamites allocated to each construction team.

And since everyone here knew that Ernest had an argument with Sylvie, they just had to look a little further, and Ernest was not getting away.

The only thing they could do now was to pray that nothing bad happened.

Amusingly, even as the thought crossed their mind, the ground suddenly split into

a colossal rift as the rumbles suddenly resumed!

It was as if the earth itself was sinking!

Everyone turned to run in horror, but they were not getting away as the ground started to collapse into itself!

Soon, the rift reached the

construction team, but even as they

thought they were going to die, the

miracle happened-the tremors

abruptly halted!

Silence ensued even as a group of people appeared at the tomb entrance, flying through the air before landing.

Two of them were glaring icily at Ernest as he screamed.

"There's a limit to how far pranks should go. You really don't care what happens to

the tomb, huh? Not worried about punishment, are we?"noveldrama

It went without saying that Sylvie was furious.

If Frank was not that powerful, they

would be dead, and an invaluable et

archaeological site would be destroyed, along with countless precious artifacts!

"H-How did you make it out?!" Ernest shrieked in terror.
