Chapter 303 Meeting the In-laws
Hanging up the phone, Emily felt that the atmosphere instantly froze.
Emily let out a long sigh, and sure enough, a familiar voice came from behind.
"I was worried something might have happened to you... so I followed to check. Was it Mom's call?" Michael asked.
Fortunately, she reacted quickly just now; otherwise, the matter about the child would have been exposed.
Emily immediately adjusted her state, turned around, and replied, "Yes, she was just asking how I've been lately and when I'll be back. She misses me."
Michael didn't know what was going on. Although he and Emily had laid everything out in the open, things were getting increasingly awkward between them.
Knowing he had wronged Emily, he could only avoid her gaze and respond helplessly. "You've been through a lot these past few days. Sorry for the trouble."
"It's okay. We can pick up Veda tomorrow."
After saying this, Emily's expression became serious for a moment.
The closer it got to the time to bring Veda back, the more worried she became.
"Can we really bring Veda back to Emerald City smoothly tomorrow?" she asked, The next morning, Isabella wore a black coat, black hat, and black high heels. She drove from home and soon appeared at the gate of the Smith Mansion like a god of death.
At that time, Scarlett was also about to sneak out and happened to run into Isabella. She couldn't help but be startled and then secretly complained in her heart.
"Of all times, she had to come now. What bad luck!"
Veda had been missing for a few days, and Michael and Emily had gone out to look for her.
Mason ordered Scarlett to be confined at home, and he fell ill overnight.
So Scarlett seized the opportunity, planning to sneak out early in the morning to have
some fun and return by dusk. Unexpectedly, she ran into Isabella as soon as she stepped out.
What a damned coincidence!
"What are you doing here dressed like that?" Scarlett said irritably.
Hearing this, Isabella looked Scarlett up and down.
She was wearing a purple dress, with delicate makeup and a cute hairstyle.
It wasn't hard to guess she was going out to fool around.
But it was truly shocking for Isabella that Scarlett, as a mother, would go out to fool around so early in the morning, completely ignoring their runaway daughter.
"Mrs. Smith, going out?" Isabella asked with a deliberate smile.
Scarlett certainly couldn't tell the truth. If Isabella told Mason, she would be sent abroad immediately, and she wouldn't see any handsome men.
Thinking of this, Scarlett was terrified and quickly retorted. "I'm going out to buy breakfast for Mason. He hasn't had an appetite these days and doesn't like the food at home. I have to take care of him."
"I'm not like you, Isabella. I can't live alone easily!"
Scarlett's sarcasm was obvious, but Isabella didn't bother to argue with her.
Isabella couldn't imagine Scarlett dressing like that just to pick up breakfast. No way!
Thinking of this, Isabella put on a knowing look and immediately responded.
"Then I'll go with you. I have something to discuss with you." What a clingy person!

Scarlett smiled and agreed, but thought to herself.
Like mother, like daughter!
Emily was shameless, and so was Isabella!
So Scarlett had no choice but to get into Isabella's car and direct her to the breakfast stall.
Early in the morning, the two women sat opposite each other.
Scarlett only ordered a cup of coffee. She didn't have time to beat around the bush with Isabella and impatiently asked.
"What's the matter, Isabella? Just say it. We're old acquaintances; no need to hide anything."
After speaking, Scarlett took a sip of coffee and glanced at the time absentmindedly. Isabella knew Scarlett was a tough nut to crack.
Although she had long used Emily's inability to conceive as an issue to press Emily, Isabella didn't want to spill the beans about about Emily's pregnancy.
But a warning was necessary.
After all, as long as Emily and Michael didn't divorce, Scarlett would continue to blame Emily.
Isabella didn't want Emily to have any regrets and wanted her to see her feelings for Michael clearly.
But more than that, Isabella wanted Emily to be safe and hoped Scarlett would know when to stop and not underestimate her.
"It's nothing much."
Isabella picked up a spoon and stirred the milk in front of her, then looked up at Scarlett. The sharpness in her eyes made Scarlett freeze for a moment. Isabella quickly retracted that look and smiled.

She froze for a moment and then felt uneasy, quickly asking, "What is it?"
"I came today to warn you as Emily's mother."
A warning?
Scarlett thought that considering she was Michael's mother, Isabella would at least be polite.
Unexpectedly, Isabella spoke so bluntly.
Scarlett immediately dropped the pretense, sneered, and responded, "Warn me about what? To treat your daughter well?noveldrama
"Let me tell you, Isabella, Emily has been married into the Smith family for three years, hasn't gotten pregnant, and constantly argues with Michael. How do you expect me to treat her well?
"Having children and managing the household, I only want her to do these two things. Do you think my demands as a mother-in-law are excessive? Not at all! It's your daughter who can't do it, and now it seems like I'm bullying her? Do I need you to warn me?"
Scarlett's words made Isabella furious.
She didn't want to make things too tense; she just wanted to give Scarlett a heads-up. Who knew she would speak so harshly!
Isabella was so angry that she stood up, and shouted at Scarlett. "Who told you my daughter didn't..."
But thinking of Emily's safety, Isabella swallowed her words and turned to warn Scarlett again. "I just want to tell you that I now have the power to go against the Smith family. And as for you, once your children stop supporting you, you'll be nothing. If you continue to pick on Emily, you will regret it."
Isabella stood up, picked up her bag, and added. "Thanks for the breakfast. I won't waste your time. Scarlett, those young gigolos don't have much patience. You better go keep them company!"
With that, Isabella turned and left without looking back.
What do you think?
