Chapter 282 Alexander's Anger
Besides Aiden, three others got poisoned, and one of them's in really bad shape.
So, Joe called Allison in for a consult, but the news was pretty bleak.
"Liver cancer, late stage. Only option is a liver transplant," Allison said.
Joe let out a heavy sigh, tapping his cane on the floor in frustration. "Herbert's ruthless. He even went after his own mentor. What a jerk!"
Joe's blood pressure had shot up from anger, and it was only after Allison's massage therapy that he felt a bit better. But now, he was fuming again.
"Joe, don't get worked up. Trust me. As long as we find a suitable liver donor, Henry and I will handle the surgery together. Double insurance!" Allison reassured him.
Henry chuckled, watching Allison try to calm Joe down. It was like a kid comforting an old man.
"Actually, we already have a donor. It's one of Mr. Thompson's students. But his unique status might complicate things," Henry said, somewhat cryptically, causing Allison to frown.
"So, even though he's willing, he hasn't gotten his family's consent yet, so it might not happen?" Allison asked.
Henry nodded, looking at Allison with a deep, unreadable expression that made her uneasy.
"Henry, why are you staring at me like that? It's making me nervous!" Allison said.
Henry smiled and handed Allison a medical report. "You know the donor. You'll understand once you see this."
Allison glanced at the report and stood up in shock. "How could it be him?"
The name on the report was Victor. Allison couldn't believe that Victor was one of Milton Thompson's students and had volunteered to donate his liver.
"Alexander's sister just found out she's pregnant. If she learns her husband is donating his liver, it could be too much for her," Allison said.
Joe and Henry fell silent, clearly aware of the situation.
Allison frowned, realizing the complexity of the problem she faced.
"That's why Joe and I called you in. I think you should talk to Mr. Wilson. Donating a liver is no small matter, and he's almost fifty. As a medical school professor, he should understand the risks. Plus, he has a wife and kids..." Henry trailed off.
"I'll talk to Victor. But before that, I need to tell Alexander," Allison decided.
Instead of calling Alexander, Allison went straight to the Carter Group. Alexander was surprised to hear she was there and rushed down to meet her.
Alexander took Allison's hand as soon as they met.
"Weren't you supposed to meet Joe and the others today? How do you have time to see me?" he asked.
Allison smiled and leaned her head on his arm.
"We finished early, and I got hungry. So I came to see if Mr. Carter would treat me to lunch," she teased.
Alexander grinned and wrapped his arm around her. "Of course, I'll treat you. And I'll take care of you for life! Let's go, James has already ordered lunch. We can rest in my office until it arrives."Allison happily followed him upstairs, greeting employees along the way.
"Good afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Carter," they said.
Being called Mrs. Carter made Allison feel a bit shy and embarrassed.
In the office, Alexander noticed her flushed cheeks and laughed. "Feeling shy?"
Allison huffed and sat on the couch. Alexander unbuttoned his suit jacket and sat beside her.
"We're not even married yet, and they're calling me Mrs. Carter. It makes me feel old!" Allison said.
Alexander pulled her close and kissed her. Allison resisted, worried someone might walk in and see them.
But the more she resisted, the deeper Alexander kissed her, until she was nearly out of breath. Finally, he pulled away.
"So, do you think being with me makes you feel old? Or are you bothered by our age difference?" he teased.noveldrama
Allison laughed and leaned into his chest. "If I minded, could you turn back into an eighteen-year-old? Or could I suddenly age ten years?"

Alexander laughed too, and they both ended up giggling. Just then, James entered with their lunch, looking a bit awkward. "Mr. Carter, lunch is here."
Alexander nodded and let Allison stay on the couch while he washed his hands and brought a towel to her. He even wiped her hands, showing just how much he doted on her.
James, used to their displays of affection, went to eat his lunch. After eating, Allison showed Alexander the report. His expression darkened. "Liliana's pregnant, and he wants to donate his liver? Is he crazy?"
Allison tried to calm him down. "Mr. Thompson is Victor's mentor. Donating his liver shows Victor's loyalty. But with Liliana pregnant, he needs family consent. We can't control their decisions, but Mr. Thompson's condition is critical. He needs a transplant immediately."
Alexander, frustrated, grabbed his phone and called Victor.
Victor had just brought Liliana to The Carter Manor. They were pleased with the room Allison and Alexander had prepared for them.
When Alexander's call came through, Victor's expression changed. He glanced at Liliana and stepped outside to take the call. "Alexander, let me explain..."
Alexander interrupted, "Explain what? That you're donating your liver for your mentor? That's noble, but what about Liliana, Mia, and the baby? Victor, how can you be so selfish? Liliana has given up everything for you-her reputation, pride, health. What have you given her? Why is it always her making sacrifices?"
Allison had never seen Alexander so angry. He was usually stoic, but when it came to family, he couldn't stay calm.
"Alexander, donating my liver won't endanger my life. It will affect my health, but if my mentor survives, his contributions to medicine will be invaluable. Without him, I wouldn't be where I am today. Alexander..." Victor tried to explain.
"Spare me the lecture. If Liliana doesn't agree, will you still go through with it? Victor, you're a man with a family. How can you be so irresponsible?" Alexander demanded.
What do you think?
