She Accepted Divorce, He Panicked

260 Light Or Darkness

A broken rib.

Scar wasn't sure how long it was for the thugs to rain hits on Sebastian. All she remembers are the swinging bats, the kicks, and the painful groans across the think door that Sebastian tried to suppress. He could barely stand when the police charged into the room, but he didn't let go of the bat locking her door until the medical care basically had to peel him off before putting him on a stretcher.

Bruises and blood all over him, he was barely conscious on the way to the hospital. They counted a few dozen bruises, mostly on his limbs. A deep cut on his left forearm, later to be determined from a nail on a table in the warehouse when he fought the thugs. But other than that, no severe wound, no inside bleedingly, and no damaged organs.

A broken rib. That's the most severe injury he got out of this crazy scheme against her life.

"I can't believe it!" Aurora keeps shouting as Scar told her what happened, "That's so lucky! I'm so happy that you are alright, Scar! I was scared to death when I got your call!"

"Which we were very grateful, by the way," Adrian adds with a naughty grin. Apparently everywhere where Aurora is, he is now.

Scar can't help but smile at that grin she missed so much. But before she could even answer to that, she falls into a tight hug. Scar hugs Aurora -- well, stuck in Aurora's tight hug, numbly.

She didn't contact anyone after she came back to the city this time. She came back for blood, and she had an evil, dark plan that won't ends well. She didn't want to go back into the lives of the people that cares about her. Not like there are too many of them anyway. But when Sebastian was pushed into the emergency room, Scar couldn't bear being alone to wait for the news. She wanted to call Silco, but in the end she didn't.

Sebastian hates Silco.

She called Aurora. Lilith was the one who would fight for her, but Aurora was the one who could calm her and comfort her. All these years. Besides, Scar didn't want Alice to get involved in this, or anything that might involve Damian. Apparently, Sebastian is Damian's best friend now, for some reason.

Scar listed a long list for herself why she called Aurora, just so she could lie to herself when the truth is:

She missed Aurora.

She missed the warmth she felt from people who cared for her, from people who she cared for. She missed, having the connections with people. She thought she was over that. She thought after the dark hell, all that matters to her is the revenge. She thought she was okay with ending her life in that darkness that gulped her.

But now she misses the light.

She has been craving for some phantom of connection from Silco. She could barely fight the urge to get close to Damian. And now she called Aurora.

She missed being a human. Being alive and cared for.noveldrama

So why are there tears coming down?

"Hey, you are alright now, Scar," Aurora pats her gently, cupping her face with worried eyes, "It's over now. You are okay now and you are safe, and Sebastian will recover sooner than you think."

Sebastian. Scar turns around and look at the man sleeping quitely under the hospital's white sheet. He was sedated for the procedure, and he hasn't wake up yet.

Secretly, Scar feels relieved. She's not sure how to face him anymore. First she loved him, and then she is disappointed, then she hates him, and then he almost died for her.

"She's going to shed more tears if you don't wake up already," Suddenly, Adrian laughs as he taunts. In panic, Scar shoots her eyes over--

Frowning, Sebastian opens his eyes

slowly. He raises his arm but he barely can. One of the guys stomped his fingers, leaving them in heavy bandages. He moves them by instinct, only to open his eyes wider at the pain.

"Scar...?" The man mumbles. The first words coming out of his mouth, is her name. Scar closes her eyes.

She wanted to hate him. To revenge him. To give him the pain like never -- by killing the woman he loved so much for so long. But the man became between her and Ava again. He protected her from the men Jack Fuller sent, and now she owes him.

Maybe deep in his heart, he did reserve a corner for her -- the woman he married for five years.

Sebastian spots Scar. He struggles

to sit up but fails. The concern in his eyes peaks before he slowly realize that she's safe. Relief replaces the pain the shock and the exhaustion before he smiles faintly at her and lies back. Looking at the worry in his eyes, and the longing rolling in his throat, Scar wants to forgive and forget.

But how? How could she when her little boy was ripped of that choice?
