Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 889

Chapter 889:noveldrama

She pressed it hard.

A loud, sharp announcement blared through the basement. “Evacuate immediately! Evacuate immediately!” The cold, mechanical voice of a woman blended with the urgent alarm.

The researchers were in a panic. “What should we do?” one of them asked.

“Maybe we should follow the alarm,” another suggested.

“Exactly, the evacuation order’s been given,” someone else confirmed.

As soon as he heard the announcement, Kellan quickly commanded his team, “Get all researchers to the upper floors.”

“Understood, sir,” they answered.

Lena barely managed to grab her files before one of the men in black pushed her into the elevator. Annoyed, she had no choice but to go along with it. But something didn’t feel right to Lena.

“Who set off the alarm? Has anyone told Mr. Shaw?”

Kellan stayed calm. “Someone’s already contacted him. Don’t worry.”

Once he spoke, the elevator doors shut completely.

This area wasn’t affected by the smoke. As the elevator moved up, one of the researchers tried to use his phone to call outside, but he was confused.

“Huh? Did our elevator always have no signal?”

“I can’t make a call either,” another researcher said.

“Neither can I. What should we do?”

In their rising panic, everyone pulled out their phones.

“Looks like we’ll have to wait until we’re out,” one of them muttered, sounding defeated.

When the elevator doors opened again, Kellan made sure his team safely settled the researchers. Then, he led another group to set explosives in the second basement.

Through the smoke and chaos, Kellan couldn’t reach Allison. But as his heart raced, he felt a strange sense of her presence.

“Allison, see you soon,” he muttered.

No matter what happened, he would always be there for her.

In the second basement, Allison knew the researchers had been moved. She accessed the central control system again and broadcasted with the automated female voice.

“The fire is out of control. In five minutes, all researchers must evacuate immediately with the remaining test subjects!”

Upon hearing the announcement, the researchers panicked.

“What should we do? Mr. Shaw isn’t here, and neither is Mr. Williamson!”

“Let’s run. Everyone else on this floor has already left. What are we still doing here?”
