Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 833

Chapter 833:

In the familiar surroundings, Verruckt finally let his guard down. He pulled out his medical kit. “Come here and help me with my wound.”

Allison blinked and pretended to hesitate for a moment. “But… I’m afraid my hands might shake.”

Verruckt laughed softly, saying, “I always knew you couldn’t be a doctor.”

He laid out the items she would need. “But you won’t be as awkward as last time, will you?”

Verruckt pulled off his shirt, revealing his well-built physique. His right arm was covered in deep knife scars. Blood had soaked through his black shirt. The shirt had hidden how serious his injuries were.

“It must hurt so much,” Allison said, looking at the wound. She held the bandages and disinfectant in her hands. Her voice was soft, and her eyes began to redden.

“I’ll be as careful as I can,” she added.

Verruckt casually leaned back on the floor. “It’s just a small wound.”

He let Allison take care of him, as if he wouldn’t mind if she accidentally killed him.

While she worked, Allison’s mind raced, thinking about how to get the password for the escape route.

“Mr. Shaw, I know you think I’m clumsy and useless, always holding you back,” she said, her bangs falling over her eyes, hiding her face. “But even if I’m foolish, I wouldn’t risk my life like you do.”

Verruckt’s chest rose and fell as he spoke in a slightly rough voice. “Are you worried about me?”

He had never gotten a clear answer when he asked this before. It was meant to tease her, but he didn’t expect her voice to falter.

“I’m not worried about you,” she replied as she carefully unwrapped his bandage, though her hands were trembling.

Her tears dripped onto his hand, the warm drops slowly cooling.

The soft, sticky sensation of her tears made Verruckt pause for a moment.

“Are you crying?” he asked, lifting her chin. Her eyes were filled with tears, and she stubbornly tried to look away.

“No, it’s just the smell of the medicine bothering my eyes,” she lied, though it was obvious. Verruckt didn’t call her out on it.

He felt an unfamiliar feeling in his chest.

Over the years, only the dying had cried and begged in front of him. He should have mocked Alice, as everyone else feared him. But for some reason, he couldn’t bring himself to say a single harsh word.

“Alice, do you know what it means to return to the club and stay by my side tonight?”
