Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 823

Chapter 823:

The sound echoed from deep within the shaft.noveldrama

Blood spread, dark and vivid, blooming like a twisted flower in the depths of hell. Fiona had no chance to survive.

At that moment, Verruckt looked up and caught sight of a familiar face. Alice stood across from him, her wide, shocked eyes locked onto him.

“What are you doing here?” Verruckt’s brows furrowed. He was drenched in blood, and it appeared as though he had just killed Fiona right in front of her. To him, this was just another day. But for some reason, the situation made him uneasy.

Damn it. He realized he didn’t want her to see this. “I… I was worried something might happen to you, so I came back.”

Allison carefully glanced at the elevator shaft behind him. If she wasn’t mistaken, Fiona had just met her end at his hands. Death wasn’t something new to her, but she still acted as though she was scared.

“Is Miss Smith dead?”

Jareth, hearing this, nervously turned his head. It was obvious to anyone that his boss had just killed someone. The question seemed almost pointless.

Verruckt, however, was fixated on Allison’s eyes. He could see the fear in them. In that moment, he remembered Fiona’s dying curse: “Will she see you as a cold, heartless monster?”

Verruckt’s face hardened into a cold mask. He moved toward Allison, step by step, his bloody form fully exposed to her.

“Fiona did die by my hand.”

His blood-covered fingers slowly lifted her chin. His touch felt cold, like a snake’s skin.

“So, are you scared?”

Allison had no choice but to look up into Verruckt’s eyes. She instinctively tried to push him away, but her hands were held firmly against his chest. Verruckt’s breath felt scorching, and his well-toned muscles showed beneath the loosely undone collar of his shirt.

“Look me in the eye,” he ordered again. This was the second time he had said those words. He was like a force of nature—dangerous but impossible to resist. Allison had nowhere to go. It was a mix of threat and allure.

As he drew closer, she saw her own reflection in his blood-red eyes, framed by his long, dark lashes.

“Of course, I’m afraid,” Allison said, blinking. She took a shaky breath, and her voice faltered slightly. “They said you might die. If that’s true, it must mean I failed my mission.” Tears began to form in Allison’s eyes as she spoke. “Mr. Shaw, what really scares me is that you might die because of me.”
