Chapter 204 The Wedding Ring

Hearing Jeremiah's words, I let out a sharp laugh. "And how exactly do you want me to make it up to you?"

I was genuinely curious to see just how shameless he could be.

Jeremiah seemed oblivious to the sarcasm in my tone, convinced I was actually giving in. He immediately put on a smug look, as if he had just confirmed that I still cared about him.noveldrama

"Didn't you start a studio with Levi? My company wants to collaborate with your studio. I've sent multiple people to negotiate, but none of them have had any success. If you help me close this deal, I might consider getting back together with you."

I raised an eyebrow. "Didn't you go around saying I was involved with Levi and acted all high and mighty about not working with my studio? What changed your mind now?"

A flicker of embarrassment crossed his face, but it vanished just as quickly. He scoffed as if I were the one being unreasonable. "I've thought it over. He's just your junior, nothing more. There's no reason for something so trivial to come between us as husband and wife. So, there's no need for you to keep pretending to be close to him just to spite me."

I stared at Jeremiah in silence, carefully keeping my expression neutral, making sure not to let too much disdain show.

Even now, he carried himself with that same arrogant superiority, twisting his plea for help into an act of generosity. The man had a talent for twisting words.

If Cornell Group wasn't truly in dire straits, he wouldn't have come looking for me.

Even without him saying it, I already knew Cornell Group had lost hundreds of millions of dollars in their last project. The only reason the news hadn't leaked was because the Cornell family had spent a fortune keeping it under wraps.

If word got out, their share price would plummet, and their business partners would start pulling out, forcing them to reevaluate their deals. It would spiral out of control until Cornell Group collapsed entirely.

So now, he was desperate for a deal any deal that could restore the Cornell Group's reputation. And after exhausting all his other options, he had finally come crawling to me.

I scoffed and waved him off. "Sorry, but Levi is the one handling all the studio's partnerships now. I don't have a say in it. As for getting back together, I don't need that either."

I raised my hand, showing him the wedding ring on my finger.

Eric had insisted I wear it before leaving the villa today. I hadn't thought much of it at the time, but it turned out to be useful.

Jeremiah's expression stiffened for a moment as his gaze landed on the wedding ring.

But he quickly scoffed, dismissing it

with a smirk "Oh, come on. Who

else would want you after leaving me? Don't think I don't know that the things Eric said in court were all fake You two planned it just to piss me off."

I looked at his overly confident face and couldn't help but roll my eyes. "If you could bottle up your confidence and share it, you'd probably save hundreds of people from low self-esteem."

Jeremiah immediately caught the sarcasm in my words. His smirk froze. "You..."

He pointed at me, his eyes burning with anger. The next second, he grabbed my

wrist, trying to pull me away. "Come with me. We need to talk."

Before I could say a word, a strong hand reached in and forced him to let go.

I turned around and immediately felt

a wave of relief-it was Eric. He gave

me a reassuring glance before subtly pulling me behind him. Then, fixing his gaze on Jeremiah, hez asked, "Mr. Cornell, what exactly do you think you're doing to my wife?"

It was the first time I had ever heard Eric refer to me as his "wife".

For some reason, the word sent a strange warmth through my chest.

Jeremiah caught onto the term too. He raised an eyebrow and let out a cold chuckle. "So what? You're telling me you two actually got married?"
