Chapter 1765
Faced with a barrage of questions, Fiona felt a headache coming on and just wanted to hold her head in her hands. The real issue wasn't why her mom skipped over her godfather back in the day; it was figuring out how to tackle gym class today!
Meanwhile, in the principal's office—noveldrama
James lounged at his desk while Tricia handed him a pile of necessary
documents. "You've got three international meetings lined up and an online press conference this afternoon."
James checked his watch and asked, "When's Fiona's gym class?"
"First period in the afternoon."
"Clear my schedule for that time."
"You're not making Fiona run again, are you? Remember, she tends to go a bit too fast..."
"I'm not asking for much, just a passing grade."
"Keeping her speed in check is a tall order for Miss Fiona."
"Then she needs to learn," James replied coolly.
Over the years, Sophie and Colby had pampered Fiona too much, letting her get away with anything. It turned her into a carefree mascot. If she didn't shape up, she'd run both the Devonport and Burke family businesses into the ground.
This time, he was determined to make Fiona think for herself.
In gym class, Fiona was stretching while Betty chimed in, "Fiona, I think your godfather's just bluffing. You don't have to take it so seriously... Just jog a bit. He won't actually break your legs, right?"
"You don't get it," Fiona pouted. "He won't break my legs, but the consequences could be even worse!"
Fiona didn't have time to chat with Betty as she spotted James stepping out of the school building. This time, even the school board was tagging along behind him.

Who needs a homeroom teacher when the principal himself shows up?
Fiona gritted her teeth and headed to the track.
The gym teacher, seeing the parade
of school officials, felt a wave of nervousness for the first time. He approached Fiona, nearly begging, "Fiona, please, I still want to keep my job. Usually, you don't run, and that's fine! But this time, can you give it your all?"
""
Give it her all?
Not a bad idea! But... it wasn't that simple.
Fiona made a face like she was wrestling with a tough decision. "I'll try!"
The gym teacher was already sweating. He moved to the side of the track and
raised the starter pistol. "Ready! Go!"
Fiona shot off like a rabbit, leaving Betty on the next track in shock. Even the boys cheering for Fiona were gobsmacked.
What on earth?
Since when did the mascot sprout wings on her feet?!
Fiona ran with her eyes shut, but when she opened them, James's gaze was growing icier by the second.
Seeing James teetering on the edge of anger, Fiona tried slowing down. But after
a brief deceleration, she worried she wouldn't pass, so she sped up again.
To everyone watching, Fiona looked like a car with a faulty engine-accelerating and then braking hard-but she never missed a beat. By the final lap, her pace picked up even more, and she wasn't even winded.
What do you think?
