Chapter 1761
To play it safe, Alec said, "Stick with me for the next few days, okay? No wandering off."
Fiona thought for a moment and then hit him with a thought-provoking question, "If I stay by your side, am I the one protecting you, or are you protecting me?" "Are you messing with me now?"
Alec gave Fiona's cheek a light pinch and teased, "With your smarts, they'd have you on a leash in no time! Remember when you gave a hundred bucks to that homeless guy, and he nearly ran off with you? Where'd you pick up this bleeding heart of yours?"
"Ugh!"
Fiona batted Alec's hand away, pouting, "That guy was really down on his luck. He didn't have an arm and hadn't seen a bath in days."
"Thank goodness Uncle Rick swooped in, or you'd have lost a limb!"
"That was ages ago! I was just eight then, and now I'm nearly eighteen! Alec, can you stop treating me like a kid, like Mom and Dad do?"
Fiona sat cross-legged on the bed, feigning annoyance, "Mom says having a kind heart brings good fortune!"
"And your mom's follow-up is, 'If nobody bothers me, I won't bother them. But if they do, give them a chance. If they keep at it, wipe them out!""
Alec poked Fiona's forehead, frustrated, "Why do you pick up the bad stuff and not the good? Planning to become a saint in a convent?"
Fiona rubbed her sore forehead, itching to show Alec a judo move.
But then she remembered she needed his help shaving her legs later and thought better of it.
Fiona chuckled, "I promise I'll wise up. If someone tries to fool me again, I'll be the first to disarm them! If they don't have arms, I'll go for the legs."
"You don't have to get your hands dirty; there are folks who'll handle it for you."
Thanks to Sophie and Colby's unique status, Fiona had always been a target of envious eyes.
Oddly enough, every time someone tried to make a move on Fiona, they vanished before saying a word.

Fiona.
Silent, invisible, leaving no trace.
Alec had casually asked his parents a few times if they had anyone keeping an eye on him and Fiona.
The answer was always a firm no.
Plus, his parents were clueless about Fiona's narrow escapes from being kidnapped multiple times.
He remembered once in kindergarten when an old man selling caramel apples led Fiona away.
Alec, who was leaving with Fiona, sensed something was off. When they turned the corner, there was Fiona, happily munching on a caramel apple.
There was a cart next to her, but the old man had vanished.
Another time, back in elementary school, on their way home, they watched as a speeding black car barreled toward them, only to be knocked off course by another vehicle. en
The incident even made the local news.
The official story was both drivers were drunk and lost their licenses.
But how's that for a coincidence?
Even stranger, in middle school, someone tried to kidnap Fiona, sending three vans full of people.
What do you think?
