Revenge is Best Served… After Reborn

Chapter 1760

Kiran looked up and said, "The first possibility is that the other party is just a small group looking to make a quick buck, with no ties to The Silent Shadows. But there's a catch-they've got to be well-acquainted with the city's trade networks, probably from a business family, and really savvy about the pharmaceutical distribution channels. Most importantly, they might have a list of The Silent Shadows and some high-profile society figures."

"The second possibility is that this website isn't their main gig, so they haven't bothered to secure it."

Sophie was hoping it was the first scenario. Otherwise, things would just get more tangled.

Meanwhile, over at the Costello family estate-

"Easy, easy... don't be so rough... ouch!"

Fiona was lying on the bed, wincing in pain.

Alec sat on the edge of the bed, using a scraper on Fiona's leg. "Stop making such a fuss, I can't handle it."

"But it really hurts!" Fiona complained. "You've been abroad for two years, how did you get so strong?"

Alec casually tossed the scraper in front of her. "Your turn."

Fiona reluctantly got up and took her place beside Alec, starting to scrape his leg.

"We need to figure out a way to get Uncle Angelo off our backs," Fiona said as she worked. "He's been way too harsh. What's up with him today, making us carry weights for twenty kilometers? My legs still hurt."

"Something must've gone down overseas, which is why Mr. Aldridge is pushing us to train hard, to be ready for any danger," Alec said, his eyes darkening.

Just after his eighteenth birthday, his parents had called him back, and even Uncle Angelo had insisted he return to Devonport overnight. 4t wasn't just to take over the Tredgold family, no way.

He remembered the light in Uncle Angelo's study had been on constantly for the past few days. Something was definitely up.

"If something happened overseas, wouldn't that mean Mom and Dad are in danger?" Fiona asked worriedly. "I need to call them!"

"Hold on!" Alec grabbed Fiona's arm and said, "Do you think your parents are like mine? You have no idea how strong they are. Instead of worrying about them, you should be worried about us."

"This isn't overseas; what do I have to worry about?" Fiona said dismissively. "Besides, Uncle Angelo has already arranged for plenty of protection at school. Nothing's going to happen."

"How did someone as smart as

Damita have a niece as clueless as you?" Alec teased, poking Fiona's forehead. "Think about it. If there's really danger and the enemy can't

take on your folks, what do you think they'd do?"

Fiona thought for a moment and then asked, still puzzled, "What would they do?"

"They'd try to grab you and use you to threaten Damita."

Fiona looked up, surprised, and then said seriously, "But they can't beat me."

Uncle Angelo had once mentioned her talent was exceptional among girls, and with her extensive training, even professional assassins would find it tough to take her on.noveldrama

"True," Alec conceded, realizing he didn't need to worry about Fiona.

Even a dozen burly men wouldn't easily get the better of her. Besides, who would dare attempt to kidnap Fiona?

Still, any adversary formidable

enough to mobilize both Damita and

Uncle Aldridge was no ordinary threat. His parents had called him back not just to manage the Tredgold family, but also to keep an eye on Fiona.
