Revenge is Best Served… After Reborn

Kiran was sorting through the latest info on the Pollard family. He set down his pen, rubbed his temples, and called out, "Come in."

Viona stepped into the room.

Time hadn't really taken much of a toll on them; they still looked as they did in their youth, only now with a touch more poise and wisdom.

Kiran removed his glasses and said, "Check this out. These are all the goodies Wesley left behind years ago."

With that, Kiran tossed a packet of white powder onto the table.

Sophie moved closer and picked up the packet. Even through the bag, the familiar scent hit her.

"Where did this come from?" Sophie asked, curiosity tinged with concern.

"It leaked from our own ranks," Kiran replied, suspicion lacing his words. "Did you guys really clean out everything The Silent Shadows made back in the day? I'm starting to think you're pulling my leg."

Kiran had put his faith in their abilities back then, so he hadn't followed up on The Silent Shadows' affairs.

Yet, two decades down the line, their products were cropping up again.

"Like weeds after a wildfire, always sprouting back," Sophie said with a wry smile.

Over the years, they had tried everything to stamp out the underworld forces. But as long as human desires existed, these shadowy businesses would keep springing up.

A comeback was just a matter of time.

Kiran said, "It's too late now. If this stuff hits the streets, everything Wesley aimed for won't just be a pipe dream. I've had this powder analyzed, and even though modern medicine's got a counter-agent, it stil messes with the nervo system. We can't let it spread."

Sophie asked, "You mentioned this stuff leaked internally, so it's not out there yet.

We might still have time to stop it."

"It's already too late. I intercepted

this batch three days ago, but it's already spreading across docks and shady hangouts. Lately, it's even popped up on the dark web.

Kiran examined the packet and remarked, "This seems like a diluted version. It's

not strong, just stress-relieving, no hallucinations."
