Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 602

Nathalie was taken aback. "Are you telling me Regan did all this without his son having a clue?"

Nathan nodded. "Yep."

Nathalie's face turned serious as she thought it over. Why wouldn't Regan want to share the scoop about her, the Stewart family's hidden daughter, with his son? There were probably a couple of reasons. First, maybe he was embarrassed- since Regan messed up back then. Or maybe he and his son didn't see eye to eye, and Regan feared his son might throw a wrench in his plans, so he kept it under wraps.

Nathan, picking up on Nathalie's thoughts, said, "Sis, I reckon Mr. Lincoln can't sit this one out. Maybe you should have a chat with him."

Nathalie nodded, looking at Nathan. "Can you set up a meeting for me with him?"

Nathan grinned widely. "Sure thing."

He turned and walked away.

Nathalie watched him go, and for the first time noticed he seemed to be hobbling a bit.

"Nathan."

She rushed over, eyes glued to his leg with concern. "Did you hurt your leg? Let me see how bad it is." She crouched down, ready to roll up his pant leg.

Nathan, a bit flustered, stepped back with a stiff smile. "Sis, I'm good. Just a little bruise from bumping into something."

Nathalie glanced up at him. "Is that really it?"

Nathan helped her to her feet. "Would I lie to you?"

He never had before, so Nathalie took his word for it.

"Even small injuries need care. Don't forget the ointment." "Sis, I got it."

Only then did Nathalie let Nathan leave.

But as soon as he was out the door, Cameron showed up.

He knocked, and Nathalie, not expecting him, absentmindedly let him in. "Come in."

But when the door swung open and she saw Cameron, tall and imposing, with a bruised face, standing there, she was both surprised and confused.

"What are you here for?"

Cameron awkwardly rubbed his nose but still walked in, despite Nathalie's less- than-welcoming look.

He casually slumped into a chair, kicking back. "Not thrilled to see me?"

"Cameron, hope you know we're strangers now. Isn't there a saying? A decent ex is one who doesn't get in the way. Ideally, they're like a ghost in the other's life."

Cameron rolled his eyes. "Why should I be a stellar ex?"

Nathalie was at a loss for words.

"Just spill it. What do you want?"

Cameron gave her a long look, emotions clouding his eyes.

Since he walked in, Nathalie hadn't even noticed his injuries. Once upon a time, she'd have been all over that.

Cameron suddenly chuckled at himself. "Nathalie, so you really have moved on."

Nathalie, annoyed, shot back

sarcastically, "I might've let you bet

out in a corner of my heart, but you didn't cut it, and my brother Nathan kicked you out."

A clear dig at Cameron, and Nathan got the praise.

One was knocked down a peg, the other lifted up.

Cameron's face fell.

Nathalie's temper flared. "Cameron, what do you really want?"

Cameron's gaze was unreadable. "I'm just curious how you went from a nobody to

becoming the most sought-after woman in the Capital, like Paige."

Nathalie was so mad she could hardly get a word out. "Since when did you turn into such a gossip?"noveldrama

Cameron rambled on, almost to himself, "I really underestimated you. I thought knowing someone like me was the peak of your life, but who knew you grew up with the Rowland family's young master? And even more shocking, you know someone even higher up the ladder?
