Remarriage You 488

Chapter 488 I Miss You Deeply

Lenora had a room arranged for Ezekiel right next to her own in the hotel. She had two bodyguards help Ezekiel onto the bed, remove his shoes, and ensure he could sleep peacefully.

She switched on the air conditioner, setting it to a comfortable temperature, then boiled a pot of water. She poured a cup and placed it by the bedside.

After accomplishing all this, Lenora was about to leave.

Suddenly, Ezekiel gripped her wrist. His eyes were tightly shut, his face flushed, and his brows slightly furrowed. It was as if he was dreaming of something heartbreaking. He murmured softly, "Don't... Don't go..."

Seeing this, Lenora sat down by the bed, softly comforting, "I'm not going anywhere. You just rest easy and sleep."

Frankly, the bond she shared with Ezekiel was more of a one-sided effort on his part. Whether it was in photography or during their time in Fairlake, even when it came to capturing Gaston, Ezekiel had always been there to lend her a hand. Yet, she found herself unable to reciprocate his help in any significant way.

Lenora had always held a deep sense of gratitude, viewing him as a kind-hearted older brother.

After their last encounter, she might have gradually distanced herself from him, but she wouldn't resent or hate him just because he chose to side with the White family.

He wasn't anyone to her, and he had no obligation to help her.

Relatively speaking, Zachary had put a lot of effort into this matter. Although part of it was for Johanne, she was still very grateful to him.

"Don't go..."

Ezekiel was still sleeping restlessly, his lips faintly moving as he muttered indistinct words in a feeble voice.

Bending over, Lenora pressed her ear closer and heard him mutter, "I miss you, Mom..."

As it turned out, he had dreamed about his mother.

Although he had never met his mother, he frequently heard stories about her from the people in the White family. Gradually, the image of his mother began to take shape in his mind. Lenora didn't know what to say.

She didn't want to take advantage of Ezekiel, yet she always felt something was off.

Ezekiel's brows furrowed tightly, his forehead covered in a fine layer of sweat, his grip tightening increasingly.

Lenora had no choice but to console him, gently patting his shoulder with her other hand. "Don't be scared. I'm here," she said.

"Mom..."

Whispering softly to himself, Ezekiel gradually drifted off to a peaceful sleep.

Lenora sat by the bed for a few more minutes, watching him sleep soundly. Once assured, she gradually withdrew her hand and tiptoed out of the room.

Flynn, the bodyguard, and his companion were stationed at the door.

When Lenora saw the two of them, her initial thought was to caution them against revealing that day's events to Zachary. However, on second thought, she had nothing going on with Ezekiel, so if Zachary wanted to be jealous, she decided to just let him be. Upon returning to her room, Lenora was just about to take a bath with her towel in hand when Zachary's call came through.

With a quirk on her brow, Lenora answered the phone and asked, "Doing rounds?"

Lenora figured Flynn had reported the matter to Zachary.

Zachary paused for a moment. "I heard he's next door to you?"

"Yes. We had a few drinks at dinner. I don't know where the Hoffman residence was, so I brought him back to the hotel," Lenora casually said, leaving out the part about knowing Bertram's phone number.

If Zachary were to find out that she didn't send him to the Hoffman residence because she was considering Ezekiel's feelings, he would probably be so jealous that he could drown her on the spot.

Zachary chuckled and asked sarcastically, "How did he end up at your dinner table?"

At noon, Zachary called to check if she had arrived at the hotel. Lenora had mentioned to him that she would be dining with the magazine publisher in the evening.

"It was only when I arrived at the restaurant that I found out he had recommended me to Mr. Yates."

Upon hearing that, Zachary gritted his teeth. Ezekiel is truly cunning! He did things impulsively, forcing Lenora to accept his goodwill. She has no choice but to maintain a relationship with him. He's still up to no good! Lenora then added, "Actually, I hadn't planned on seeing him when I came to Jeahron this time."

"Did you drink alcohol?"

"No. He was drinking with Mr. Yates, but Mr. Yates left early," Lenora explained. "Is there anything else? If not, I'm going to take a shower."

"Go ahead. Be careful. Don't slip."

"All right."

"Wait up."

"What's the matter?"

"Take your phone inside. Don't hang up."

Lenora paused, a faint blush coloring her face. "What? Is the sound of water pleasing to you? Don't you have it at home? You can listen to it however you want."

"Lenora, what's on your mind? I want to chat with you, but I'm afraid it might eat into your rest time later."

"Oh..."

Feeling awkward, Lenora responded, quietly arguing, "I wasn't overthinking. Your requests are just odd and peculiar."

As she spoke, she stepped into the bathroom, positioning her phone in a spot safe from water splashes. She hung up her bath towel and robe before turning on the shower.

The bathroom was then filled with the sound of running water.

From the other end of the line, Zachary's seemingly casual inquiry came through. "Did he mention anything to you? Like, an explanation as to why the White family didn't want to reopen the case?" As Lenora was undressing, she casually replied, "He did."

"What did he say?"

"He confessed his hatred for the

Fuller family, attributing it to

Tamara. After his mother gave birth

เวน"

to him, she had jumped off a building to her death. Her actions

were driven by a desire to suppress Johanne, and in collaboration with others, to divide the Fuller family's wealth."

There was silence on the other end of the line for a few seconds.

"Did you hear me?" Lenora asked.

"Yes." Zachary hesitated for a moment before asking, "Don't you have anything you want to ask me?"

With a soft laugh, Lenora stood under the shower, her hands moving along the flow of water on her body. "What should I ask you? Should I be asking if you're aware that he's paternal half-brother?"

Seeing that Lenora knew about it,

Zachary pressed his lips together, murmuring, "Prior to this, Grandma revealed my true identity to me, but I chose not to acknowledge it. Do you know why Aunt Tamara dislikes you?"

Lenora paused for a moment. "It's not because of Mdm. Lovestone, is it?"

Zachary gave a soft hum of acknowledgment, but his voice was drowned out by the flowing water. Despite this, Lenora managed to clearly catch the words that followed.

"Even now, she's still deluded, thinking that if Jasmine was out of the picture, Bertram would be with her. Don't you find it laughable?"

Lenora had initially thought that Tamara felt her status wasn't worthy of Zachary. She hadn't expected it to be because of this, leaving her uncertain of how to react.

There was infidelity within the

marriage, and Bertram's wife and the mistress were both pregnant one after the other. In this situation, Bertram was far from innocent Yet, even at this point, Tamara still couldn't completely let go.

Tamara's stubbornness was fully embodied in the person of Bertram.

"Is she still in Jacaster now?"

"I had already arranged for her to be sent back to Lofbury. Matthew would ensure her visa gets blocked, preventing her from entering the country." Tamara had already changed her nationality.

"That's good."

Given Tamara's wealth, she could have easily enjoyed a comfortable life abroad as long as she didn't insist on returning.

The line went silent over the phone.

The sound of the shower running masked certain unspeakable noises.

In the summer, bathing was a frequent affair. After rinsing her body several times with water, Lenora turned off the shower.

She had just wrapped her body in a bath towel when she heard a faint panting sound coming from the receiver.

Lenora thought she was hearing things and continued to dry her body with the towel.

"Have you finished washing up?"

Zachary's voice came through the speaker, and upon careful listening, it seemed a bit more hoarse and deeper than before.

A thought sprang up in Lenora's mind, prompting her to ask with a hint of suspicion, "Zachary, what are you doing?" "Haven't you figured it out already?"

"You!" Feeling embarrassed, Lenora uttered, "I'm going to hang up the phone!"noveldrama

"Nora, wait..." Zachary halted her.

"What?"

"Do you want to give it a try?"
