The kittens, still wary of the cold, had climbed through the window and were playing on the office chair.

Seeing a stranger enter their territory, they flattened their ears and hissed at Charmaine in a display of self-defense.

Closing the door behind her, Charmaine slowly approached them. "Hey kitties, it's me."

She stopped half a meter away from them and pulled out a syringe filled with milk from her pocket. "You haven't had milk for two days now. Want some?"

Knowing they were still wary of her, she didn't get too close. Instead, she extended the syringe, squeezing a bit of milk onto their noses.

Smelling the familiar scent, the kittens went from menacing to mild, meowing

sweetly and inching closer to the syringe.

Charmaine laughed. "Greedy little furballs!"

Holding the syringe with both hands, she gently fed the milk to them.

Soon, each kitten had downed about 30 milliliters of milk.

Recognizing Charmaine as their previous provider, the kittens wagged their tails
