Charmaine opened her mouth, but for a moment, she was speechless, unable to counter his point.
Scratching her cheek, she admitted, "Okay, fine. Wade was an unfortunate exception. But even without you, I wouldn't have let him get the better of me."noveldrama
She gave him a sideways glance filled with mild exasperation. "In fact, you didn't need to rush to my defense. Wade is influential at the Whites, sure, but there are plenty of ways I could've dealt with him."
For instance, she had already planned to lure Wade to an isolated spot after the dinner and give him a thorough beating, ensuring he knew that crossing her came at a price.
Unfortunately, her fists were itching for action, but Emr had deprived her of the opportunity to let off
some steam.
Emyr caught the concern in her tone. "You don't need to worry. The Whites don't matter to me."
"Yes, yes, mighty Mr. Emyr fears no one and nothing. Naturally, the Whites are no match for you. That's why I dare to act with impunity, under the protection of your name," she teased.
Knowing his intentions, Charmaine had confidently confronted Wade because she understood Emyr wouldn't idly stand by.
Someone like Wade, who abused his position to belittle her publicly, had undoubtedly troubled many women at other gatherings. Such a person needed a severe lesson to instill lasting fear.
Emyr enjoyed her playful flattery, a smile curling his lips, his mood visibly lifting.
Leaning back against the leather seat, he suddenly raised his hand and beckoned her with a finger.
Having spent so much time together, Charmaine instantly knew what he wanted. She giggled and leaned in, giving him a loud kiss on the lips.
"Your reward."
Seeing his face darken suddenly, she added with mock innocence, "Oh no, I forgot I just ate garlic pasta. My breath must reek."
Fuming, Emyr's stoic demeanor cracked. "Charmaine!"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Oh no, don't tickle my neck... It's too much...
Help!"
The playful scuffle in the backseat was audible, and Tad seated at the wheel, pondered deeply. Maybe just having a partition wasn't enough. Should he consider soundproofing too?
At an upscale boutique, Freya was browsing the latest seasonal collection, accompanied by Agatha. Agatha looked at Freya with both pride and affection. My granddaughter looks stunning in everything she

The sales assistants nearby echoed Agatha's praises.
Freya, feigning modesty, was about to try on another outfit when her phone rang in the distance.
A sales assistant respectfully handed her the phone, then drew the curtain to help Freya undress.
Freya answered, "Wade?"
As the assistant bent down to unfasten her heels, Freya suddenly kicked her away.

Freya's face twisted with rage, a menacing chill in her eyes. "What did you say? Emyr made Wade slap himself for five minutes in front of everyone because of Charmaine?!"
Her eyes blazed with fury. "That worthless wr*tch dares to humiliate my
subordinate this badly! She's signing her death warrant!"
Agatha, hearing the commotion, had the curtains pulled back.
Seeing the sales assistant sprawled on the floor with a bruise forming on her face, Agatha frowned.
"Who's upset my precious granddaughter?"
Freya threw her phone aside, hands on her hips, seething with anger. "It's Charmaine! Why isn't she dead yet?"
"Freya." Agatha's voice was gentle yet commanding. "This isn't home; mind your manners."
Freya was livid but, recognizing the steely undertone in Agatha's otherwise soft eyes, she exhaled heavily.
Agatha approached, pulling Freya's curly hair back from her face. She spoke in a low, calm voice, "Annoying people can be dealt with easily. Remember, you are the Whites' precious gem. It's not worth it to lose your temper over a lowly servant."
Freya understood immediately, planting a kiss on Agatha's cheek. "You're right, Grandma. I know exactly what to do."
Though she smiled, a dark malice flickered in her eyes.
Watching her granddaughter's swift change in demeanor, Agatha's grin spread wider, unable to contain her joy. Holding her laughter, she said, "You little charmer. Not angry anymore? Go back and try on the clothes. Buy everything you like."
"Okay!"
With Agatha's reassurance, Freya returned to the changing room, her spirits lifted.
