Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 710

Selena had a hunch that Ava might have locked the door on purpose, trying to

play matchmaker. She got where Ava was coming from, but Ava didn't really grasp how guys can be. The more you hand everything over on a silver platter, the less they appreciate it.

Selena didn't bother explaining. Instead, she tilted her head up to meet Everett's teasing gaze. Her voice was steady, "There's something about you that hasn't changed."

"Oh?"noveldrama

"You're still as cocky as ever."

Everett wasn't fazed by Selena's words. He was sure she didn't mean them. His eyes wandered over her lovely eyes, the curve of her nose, and settled on her soft, pink lips. In the dim light, they looked so tempting, almost begging for a kiss.

His mind drifted back to memories of their passionate times together-in every place and position imaginable. Those moments were intense and unforgettable.

His gaze grew more intense, his body warming up. It had been a while since he felt this kind of urge, and from the moment he saw Selena today, he wanted her.

Guys often follow their desires, even when love isn't in the picture. His hand slipped under Selena's shirt, expertly teasing, as his lips brushed her ear, his voice low and husky.

"Shall we?"

If she wanted it, he was more than willing to oblige. From what he remembered, their chemistry was always electric. If it wasn't, she wouldn't have been the only woman for him all this time.

But now, his mind was filled with heated images, and yet, he felt a disconnect. He was eager to see if it was as incredible as he remembered.

Before Selena could say anything, he leaned in, capturing her lips in a kiss,

feeling her slight tremble. His blood seemed to heat up even more, and his heart raced.

Everett's tentative touch turned

assertive His hand gripped the back of her neck, making her tilt her head

up. He pried her mouth open, mingling his tongue with hers, savoring her sweet taste.

For a fleeting moment, Selena was lost in it. She missed him, craved his closeness, just as much as he did.

But she knew deep down, this wasn't about love for him; it was all about desire. Maybe any woman who caught his eye could easily replace her.

In the heat of it all, Everett suddenly tasted the saltiness of her tears. He frowned, pulling back slightly, his mood soured, evident in his sharp tone.

"Why the tears? Isn't this what you wanted, getting back together?"

His words dripped with sarcasm, cutting through Selena's facade. Agreeing so easily to let him have the child was clearly a move. With the child around, and if they resolved things peacefully, he wouldn't refuse her visits. Soon enough, they'd see more of each other, maybe rekindle something.

And little Mateo, he was a smart kid for his age. Everett figured he was on the

same page, which explained his lack of resistance.

Everett had seen through their plans long ago, just hadn't called them out.

Being exposed like that, Selena felt a twinge of embarrassment. She turned away from him, and after a pause, spoke softly, "Everett, I admit, I wanted us to be together again, so

I waited for you."

"But love has to be mutual. I've learned from past mistakes; forcing things doesn't work. I won't do it again."

"If you really don't love me anymore, and don't want to be with me, how could I force you to stay?"

She would put up a fight for him, but only if it was worth fighting for.
