Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 646

Selena shot Everett a frosty look and tried to pull her hand back, but he held on with a grip that seemed casual but was anything but.

She clenched her teeth. "Everett, are you here to see your son, or are you just trying to get under my skin?"

Everett put on his best innocent face. "Aren't you still carrying our child? I'm just concerned about the mother of my kid!"

This guy could twist anything to suit him!

Selena let out a frustrated laugh.

She pushed him away with all her might, not sparing an ounce of kindness. "If you want to spend time with your son, go ahead. I don't need you here!"

With that, she stood up and marched straight to the bathroom.

Everett watched her retreating figure, knowing she was still putting up walls. Even if he yearned for her forgiveness and to win her back, he knew he had to be patient and not rush it.

Thankfully, unlike three years ago, they had two kids now-a bond they couldn't just walk away from.

It meant he'd always have a reason to see her.

The more they bumped into each other, the more chances he'd get to mend things.

Giving her some space was part of his plan to let her anger simmer down. Otherwise, if he kept pushing while she was still mad, it would only make things worse.

But he always kept tabs on her and the kids, just to make sure everything was alright.

Everett moved to sit by the hospital bed, gently ruffling his son's hair. Seeing Mateo's pale face, weakened by illness, tugged at his heart.

Mateo had been in the hospital for a day, and after his fever broke, he felt better, though he still had a cough. No more needles, just rest and regular meds.

He hated hospitals, so Selena had Ava sort out the discharge papers, and Everett drove them home himself.

When they got to Moon Bay, Ava took the kid inside first.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, Everett hopped out of the car and quickly caught up with Selena, lightly grabbing her wrist.

"Selena, it's a lot to handle a sick kid on your own. How about I stay over tonight to help?"

Selena stopped and turned to face him.

His dark eyes were filled with genuine emotion.

To her, though, his late-in-the-day sincerity was almost laughable.

And who knew if he was even for real?

"That's not necessary."noveldrama

Selena lowered her gaze to his presumptuous gesture. "Mr. Everett, we're divorced. I'm not your wife anymore, so quit the touching."

A pang of pain hit Everett's heart.

Still, he didn't cling. He let go of her hand quickly. "Got it, I'll be more careful next time." He turned back to the car, grabbed a manila envelope, and handed it to Selena. She didn't budge.

Everett continued, "These are shares in the hospital, now in your name This way, if the kids fall sick, you can directly book a doctor. Saves you the hassle of asking anyone else"

The last few words had a jealous edge to them. Selena couldn't be bothered to respond.

But she did take the shares.

When money could fix a problem, she wasn't too proud to accept. Besides, taking Everett's money didn't bother her at all now.

Without a second thought, she turned and walked into the house.

Everett stood there, shaking his head helplessly.

Once upon a time, a simple gift could light up her face.

Now, even with all the riches he could offer, he couldn't coax a single smile.

Winning her back was going to be a long game...

Inside the kids' room, Selena saw that Mateo wasn't resting in bed but was leaning on the windowsill, peering outside.

Watching his dad.

She didn't scold him; instead, she

gently lifted him back into bed, softly saying "Mateo, you need to get

some good rest so you can get

better fast."
