Marrying the Man in the Dark

Chapter 1224

Chapter 1224 Gwenn's Mastertrap

"Am I nothing more than a stranger, now that you have your pants on?" The woman gave a casual shrug. "Alright, go wait for me. I'll be there in a bit."

She hung up.

Charles pressed his lips together and glanced at Damien. "What's the reason you want me to see her?"

"When going fishing, it's crucial to have the proper bait. Charles, this time, you're the bait."

Charles clenched his jaw and nodded, though he still didn't understand. "That woman..."

"Leave her to me." Damien patted his shoulder. "All you need to do now is go to the café, find a conspicuous seat, sit down, and wait for her."

Charles lapsed into silence briefly then nodded.

Half an hour later, Gwenn caught sight of the man reflected in the café's floor-to- ceiling window the moment her car stopped by the hospital.

He really was waiting.

A faintly disdainful smile played across her lips. As expected, just as the rumors said, the men of the Luther family valued children especially. That's why her colleague who provided her the drug for Charles that day also gave her pills to help her ovulate. She wanted to deliver a final, fatal blow to Maeve!

"Watch Charles for me."

Putting on her sunglasses, she instructed the man in the driver's seat. "Snap some pictures of him and send them over, it'll come in handy."

The man nodded. "Gwenn, take care."

"Don't worry. I may be here to end someone's life... but I'll appear as harmless as a fly."

Instead, she carried within her body the true secret weapon.

The plan to meet Charles was a decoy to lure him out.

The truth was Gwen was after Maeve.

She explicitly decided on today because, first pregnancy can be detected after seven days, and second, because she knew Damien and Colin were in the neighboring city, bringing someone to see the surviving members of the Onder family. Meanwhile, Cherise and Lucy were at a kindergarten party.

With everyone away, how could she pass up such a perfect opportunity?

So, Gwenn arrogantly walked into the hospital, her early pregnancy test in hand. Maeve's intensive care unit was on the highest floor. She

entered with her head held high, her seven-centimeter high heels clicking.

Maeve was leaning back on the bed, hacking away. The ventilator masked most of her face. When she heard someone entering, she weakly lifted her head to look at the person at the door.

"Hello, Mrs. Luther," Gwenn greeted with a self-satisfied smile. "You might not know who I am, so allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gwenn Tanner, the new secretary at Fuoco Corporation."

"Secretary?" The woman lying on the bed frowned, her voice feeble and gravelly. "You are..."noveldrama

"I am the woman with whom your husband slept with over and over again." She sat down with deliberate casualnes's, watching as Maeve's face turned paler. "Mrs. Luther, your memory really is bad. This is not our first meeting."

Then, Gwenn shook her head. "But, it's normal for a dying person to have a bad memory.

"Mrs. Luther, please don't blame me for being blunt, but Mr. Luther told me you won't live for much longer. Once you're gone, he will leave your daughter behind to marry me."

The woman lying on the bed shook her pale face. "That's impossible... implausible..."

"Nothing is impossible." Gwenn smiled on, her lips marked by pride and arrogance. She threw the pregnancy test stick in Maeve's face. "Look, I'm pregnant."

"If it was our first time together, how could I be pregnant? What are the chances of such a coincidence happening?"
