Marrying the Man in the Dark

Chapter 1197

Chapter 1197 Lucy's Fees

Nevertheless, there were numerous things Lennon owed Lucy an apology for, so there was no harm in her arrangement of this setup.

Little did she know, the occupant of the booth behind her, his features concealed beneath a hood and a mask, turned out to be Lennon.

The coffee cup was firmly held in his grasp.

It appeared that, despite her weakened state, she still had the mental acuity to challenge Violet and criticize his performance in bed. It seemed that there was no reason for him to rush there in a worry.

Lucy's words deepened the frown on Violet's face. "You aren't concerned that I might tell Lenn the words that you've spouted to me today!?" Violet demanded.

"Not at all," Lucy replied nonchalantly.

She continued to play with the lighter, her demeanor relaxed. "If you decide to tell Lennon, he might come running back to me to prove himself once more."

"When it comes down to that, you'll have to face the consequences."

Violet clenched her jaws, her veins appearing more pronounced. "Lucy! Have you lost any sense of propriety!"

"Perhaps it is Ms. Belcourt who lacks propriety."

Lucy could no longer contain herself as she reached for a cigarette, lighting it as she spoke. "I still remember the things you did to me five years prior, Miss Belcourt."

"You came perilously close to ending my life, almost running me down, and nearly striking my son."

"After committing such atrocities, I had hoped you might show some remorse."noveldrama

"Yet nothing's changed. You're the same as usual, strutting like a peacock, being condescending and haughty."

Violet's voice dripped with disdain as she taunted, "The only reason why I'm here is precisely to show you just how much better I am. There's nothing you can do about it."

"Lucy, let's face it. You're the one who lost the battle," Violet added with a smirk.

"I don't regret letting go of a man like Lennon to pass to you," Lucy remarked coolly.

"The topic at hand here is you, Ms. Belcourt."

Lucy exhaled a smoke ring leisurely and placed the meticulously prepared invoice

on the table. "If you're interested in my services, I'm available."

"If you want me to see you two being lovey-dovey, I can do that too. Need photos? I can get it done too."

"That being said, payment upfront is non-negotiable," Lucy continued, her tone unwavering.

Violet's brow furrowed deeply as she tentatively picked up the invoice. The contents within almost caused her to explode in flames.

The detailed charges laid out by Lucy were staggering:

One hundred thousand in total to plan for the birthday event.

Two hundred thousand in total will be used to plan for the birthday and proposal event.

Three hundred thousand in total for everything, including professionally taken photos.

"Lucy, do you not have an ounce of shame?" Violet exclaimed, slamming her hand on the table. "Are you seriously demanding me with these price tags that are clearly meant to rip me off?"

Lucy crossed her legs elegantly and smiled serenely. "I'm only offering to you my standard rates."

"If Ms. Belcourt wishes to engage my services to indulge in humiliating me, then this amount should not pose an issue for you."

Six hundred thousand should be enough to ensure Alexis has a smooth upbringing until he reaches adulthood, right?

Violet clenched her teeth.

Violet bit down her lower lip in frustration. She hadn't expected Lucy to remain so unaffected by her provocations.

She had invited Lucy here with the intention of humiliating and mocking her to her face. Yet now, it seemed like the tables had turned, and Lucy was the one demanding that she pay her fees.

"Ms. Belcourt, if my fees do not meet your expectations, there are certainly other options available to you," Lucy remarked evenly, her voice carrying an air of polite indifference.

With a fluid motion, Lucy rose from her seat, her movements graceful and deliberate as she navigated towards the exit. Her expression remained composed, almost serene, as she continued, "Frankly, I do not want any of your money touching me."

"Too distasteful," she added with a faint curl of her lip, her words tinged with a subtle disdain that cut through the tension.

And with that declaration, Lucy departed swiftly.

In a surge of frustration and defiance, Violet's hand lashed out, sending her coffee cup crashing to the floor with a resounding clatter.

Violet's fingers trembled with suppressed fury as she snatched up her phone. "Get rid of Lucy! Dismiss her immediately!"

"Ms. Belcourt, are you absolutely sure about ceasing her contract?" The voice of the director on the line carried a note of perplexity. "We went through considerable efforts to make sure she agreed to your plans, and you're saying you now wish to sever ties?"

Violet's lips tightened into a thin line, her command to dismiss Lucy hanging unspoken as her gaze shifted to the scene outside. Through the glass window, she watched as Lucy staggered across the street and then collapsed.

A figure in a light gray hood and mask swiftly reached her, lifting her limp form with ease before carrying her to a waiting vehicle. In a blur of urgency, they sped away towards the hospital.

"Ms. Belcourt?" The director's voice broke through the moment, unaware of Violet's distraction and feeling the need to prompt a response.
