Chapter 3483 Taking Down The Island
Toliver listened intently to the softly spoken man, then turned his attention to Matthew and Angus.
After a moment of contemplation, he spoke to both of them, "Mr. Lopez and you, sir-are you both resolute in your desire to acquire this mine?" Angus nodded decisively, indicating his commitment.
Although he had only known Matthew for a day, he had been continuously impressed by his unexpected insights and decisions. He felt confident that his judgment would guide them well.
"Very well, as a representative of the Governor's Keep, I can guarantee that neither of you will incur any losses," Toliver stated, his tone practical. "Typically, a mine like this would be valued at a minimum of a few hundred thousand Dornia Emeralds under normal conditions. However, due to the current uncertainties regarding its stability, the Governor's Keep is prepared to reduce the reserve price."
"We will present it to you at 70% of its original worth-130,000 Dornia Emerald. What are your thoughts? After the transaction, whether this mine produces a wealth of resources or turns out to be a total failure, the Governor's Keep will assume no additional responsibility," he said.
His offer was straightforward and unambiguous, reflecting the prevailing view that this mine had an 80% likelihood of being entirely unproductive.
Now that they were set on buying the mine, the previous pricing structure was clearly no longer valid.
When Angus heard the revised offer, he looked to Matthew for advice.
"Thanks for your kindness, Mr. Lew. Nonetheless, we are prepared to buy this mine for 400,000 Dornia Emeralds," Matthew declared with a steady tone yet firm, delivering a shock that left everyone speechless.
The previously quiet man and the competing stone traders were taken aback, their astonishment quickly turning into loud laughter.noveldrama
"Is this guy for real? He must be trying to cause trouble!" asked one of the stone traders.
"Making such absurd claims in front of Mr. Lew-what a way to seal his fate!" another stone trader insisted.
"Does he even realize who he's addressing? Even if we threw in some extras, he wouldn't be worth anywhere close to that amount," someone declared.
Toliver's face darkened as he regarded Matthew. His voice calmed, and he said, "Sir, I would advise against making such statements."
If the mine hadn't still been up for sale, he might have walked away right then.
"Mr. Lew, I'm not joking. We're ready to pay 400,000 Dornia Emerald, but I would like the Governor's Keep to post patrol soldiers in this region from now on," he responded
en
Angus stayed quiet, undeterred by the hefty sum. Matthew's unwavering assurance gave him confidence as well.
Toliver was momentarily taken aback, his face revealing surprise before shifting into a thoughtful expression.
"Alright. From today onwards,
soldiers from Governor's Keep will
patrol this area every hour," he declared "However, I hope you are earnest about this proposition. If not, the Governor's Keep will interpret it as a gesture of mockery."
The expressions of the other stone traders changed noticeably upon hearing this. Could they have miscalculated the situation? Matthew looked at Angus and said calmly, "Mr. Lopez, please proceed with the payment. I have complete faith in Mr. Lew."
Toliver's lips curled into a subtle smile as he responded, "You can be assured, sir. Once I return, I will immediately arrange the patrol routes." Angus nodded, stepping forward to take a check from his pocket. He quickly filled in the amount and handed it over to Toliver.
"Mr. Lew, I assume you know how to process this?" he queried with a hint of amusement.
"Absolutely," he replied with assurance. "Just take it to Ms. Catia at the Lopez Mining Group for processing. She will know the procedure." With the check secured in hand, he gave a final nod and turned to leave.
Today could be marked as a
significant achievement for him, as
he figured, Extracting mines is very similar to betting on unrefined gemstones-it's filled with unpredictability. Despite Matthew's steadfast assurance, I have no intention of allowing the Governor's Keep to take over the mine. A
small-scale operation like this doesn't warrant their investment of
resources.
"Mr. Lopez, how about we unveil the site for everyone to witness right now?" someone interjected with a playful smile.
What do you think?
