Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew)

Chapter 3480 Heading for the Observation

The next morning, Matthew woke up in a guestroom at the Lopez Mining Group.

Bram's words had proven accurate there were few mining operators as wealthy and meticulous as Angus. The guestroom was a rarity on the island. Most of the mining shops Matthew had seen in the stone market were basic and rundown, offering nothing like this. "Matteo, you're up! Come try this," Angus called from the dining table, waving enthusiastically.

The table was set with traditional Cathay-style breakfast dishes: beef and vegetable stew, spinach and cheese turnovers, funnel cake sticks, and more.

Angus dunked a funnel cake stick into the stew and took a big bite, his face lighting up with satisfaction. "Nothing beats food from home, huh? So much better than sandwiches."

Matthew chuckled and picked up a bowl of sweet cream pudding, pairing it with freshly steamed mini pot pies.

"I didn't expect to see food like this on the island," Matthew said.

Back on Larch Island, the lack of order meant there was no such variety. Even basic bread rolls were scarce, let alone Cathay-style delicacies. Shops only stocked compressed biscuits and military rations.

"Well, Matteo, Larch Island was in disarray for so long. Of course, no one dared to set up breakfast stalls-they were too busy trying to survive. But with the new governor, I'm sure things will get on track soon," Angus said before taking another bite of a cinnamon roll. Watching Angus mix savory and sweet flavors with abandon, Matthew laughed. "Doesn't that mix of flavors bother you?"

Angus' unbothered eating reminded Matthew of an old acquaintance, Mortimer. The elderly man had always eaten whatever was available, savoring every bite regardless of combinations.

"Haha, not at all. It's even better this way!" Angus replied, grinning.

After breakfast, Angus turned to Matthew. "I happen to have some free time today. How about we go check out that new vein?"

Though the auction for the vein's rights was scheduled in two days, observation had already begun.

"Alright," Matthew agreed. The sooner they wrapped this up, the better-he planned to visit the construction material market near the stone market afterward.

Angus led Matthew to the site, where a group of well-equipped guards quickly approached them.

"I'm Angus Lopez, manager of the Lopez Mining Group. We're here to inspect the newly discovered vein," Angus announced.

The lead guard pulled out a registry, flipping to the first page to confirm Angus' identity. Once satisfied, his demeanor softened. "Apologies, Mr. Lopez. We've had a lot of people trying to sneak in recently.

Angus' smile remained unchanged as he pulled out several 500 Dornia Emerald notes from his pocket. "You've all been working hard. Take these, buy something nice, and get some rest when you're done. Refusing would mean disrespecting

He shoved the money into the guards' hands, and while they made a show of reluctance, the pleased glint in their eyes betrayed their true feelings. "Mr. Lopez," one of the guards said, hesitating slightly, "you might be disappointed. There's been a lot of talk... they're saying it's just a dead vein."
