Chapter 742
"Seriously? Now? Of all times?"
Did she even dare make a sound?
If Bryce walked in and found Ludwik kissing her, she might as well dig her own grave.
Frozen in shock, she couldn't move an inch.
Ludwik, with a mischievous glint in his eyes, cradled her blushing cheeks in his hands and deepened their kiss, indulging in the moment.
He knew he was pushing the boundaries.
But who could blame him? Tasting her sweet lips was like an addiction he couldn't shake off. Once he got a taste, stopping was the last thing on his mind.
In the dimly lit room, Ludwik's husky breaths echoed in Whitney's ears.
She was so tense she didn't dare to breathe, her heart struggling for oxygen, feeling weaker by the second.
Desperately, she clutched at his shirt, barely keeping herself upright.
In her mind, she was pleading for Bryce to leave, so she could push this infuriating man away.
But gradually, Ludwik's skillful kiss swept her away.
She felt as if she was floating on clouds, her heart pounding uncontrollably...
The sound of voices faded away from the study's doorway, unnoticed by her.
Suddenly, her phone's ringtone pierced through the air, startling Whitney back to reality.
She hastily pushed away the warmth in front of her!
Caught off guard, Ludwik stumbled back a couple of steps.
His eyes landed on her flushed face as he fumbled for his phone.
Seeing "Bryce" flash on the caller ID, Whitney's face drained of color. Panicking, she didn't dare to answer, quickly silencing the phone and shoving it back into her purse before staggering out in her heels.
"Wait a minute."
Ludwik's raspy, lazy voice followed her.
Whitney wanted to throttle him, turning to glare with eyes flashing anger.
He smirked devilishly, gesturing to her neckline, "Are you sure you want to run out like that?"
Belatedly looking down, Whitney's face turned scarlet when she realized her dress strap had slipped down without her noticing, revealing more than intended.
Her embarrassment was palpable, understanding his suggestive look all too well.
With a face turning darker, she aimed a slap at him, missing his face but hitting his sturdy jaw instead.
"You jerk, pervert."
"...Can't help being a pervert around you," Ludwik teased, his tongue flicking over the corner of his mouth where her hand had struck.
His action only made him look more rebellious and irresistibly sexy.
He sauntered closer, leaning in, his eyes burning with intensity, "Whitney, suddenly, I'm quite interested in curing myself. Just in case you ever need
me."
"
." Realizing his implication, Whitney's face turned even redder.
If he was this wild now, what would life be like if he were 'cured'?
She shivered at the thought, her expression as if struck by lightning, "Shut up. I'm not interested in discussing this."
"And don't bother trying. Given the severity of your injury, I doubt it's curable."
Ludwik raised an eyebrow, "You didn't seem to think so that night. You said there was hope. Was that just to comfort me?"
"Of course, it was. Couldn't you tell?" Whitney flatly denied, rolling her eyes, "Sometimes, it's better to accept fate rather than struggle in vain." Her words were a death sentence for his hopes.
Ludwik, looking at her playful and carefree demeanor, wished he could pull her into his arms and squeeze her tightly.
He felt defeated by her words, but soon smirked, "After tasting your sweetness, I refuse to accept fate. Let's struggle then."
"
This was it, circling back to the forbidden topic again.
Whitney was speechless, falling back into his trap.
With a clenched fist, she hardened her heart, "Even if you're cured, don't think of laying a hand on me. I don't love you anymore, nor will I forgive you. Just remember all the wrongs you've done!"
"True, I've wronged you a lot. That's why I need a lifetime to make it up to you."noveldrama
Ludwik's voice was soft yet determined. He knew his persistence was shameless, always entangling her.
Since the accident, he had thought about letting her go, to give her peace. But living without her made him feel like a walking corpse, aimless and desolate. Even his father's demands to return to the corporate world couldn't ignite his drive.
It was her occasional tenderness that became his salvation, reigniting his will to live.
Moreover, he couldn't bear the thought of her with Bryce, stepping into a mess.
Since the deed was done...
Ludwik gently brushed her hair, "This is a three-day emergency contraceptive. Remember, don't get close to Bryce in these days..."
"Mind your own business." Whitney's patience snapped, her polite upbringing lost to his provocation.
She hadn't been intimate with Bryce yet, making the pill unnecessary, and its effects moot.
She didn't want Ludwik to know, to prevent his gloating.
Whitney scoffed, "Bryce and I are together all the time. Even if we take a break now, there's always later. Do you plan to force this on me every day?" Ludwik's face turned cold, his heart aching as if it were being torn apart.
Even though he had braced for this, hearing her speak of her intimacy with Bryce was excruciating.
"Move, or I'll slap you again."
Ignoring his pain, Whitney pushed past him.
She needed to leave. Bryce had called, and she feared he might come looking for her...
"Whitney." Ludwik's voice, suddenly hoarse, stopped her.
As she paused, he quickly closed the distance, his arms wrapping around her. He left a mark on her back with a bite.
"Ouch..." Whitney gasped at the sudden pain.
As Ludwik stepped back, his eyes gleamed with defiance, "Wear my mark back, and let's see if you dare let him touch you in the coming days."
Whitney, feeling the sting, her face a mix of anger and embarrassment, lashed out, "Ludwik, you asshole."
"Yeah, I admit I'm a scoundrel," he said with a careless shrug, his gaze stubborn, "as long as you're not afraid of him finding out, feel free to get cozy with him."
"Despicable," Whitney spat, her eyes blazing with fury, wishing she could just devour him whole.
"Sweetheart, you better leave now. Or we're gonna have trouble," he said, squinting his eyes slightly, reaching out to adjust her shawl with a touch that held a hint of tenderness.
