Her Heart Her Terms (Lily and Xavier)

Chapter 59

Chapter 59 1/1

Lily never knew Xavier could be this excessive. She regretted softening up and leaving her unfinished work behind just to come take care of him. She wouldn't have minded if he were truly sick. Yet, it turned out that he had been pretending.

"As if I'd be willing to come back!" she gritted out. "I'm only here to urge you to sign the divorce papers. You should've received them by now-argh!"

Pushing for him to sign the papers in the middle of the night? Who would believe that?

Not giving Lily a chance to argue with him, Xavier pinned her beneath him. He dimmed the room's light promptly.

Even if she had come for him, he knew she'd be upset about being tricked by Timothy into returning. But he didn't want to see her cry; seeing her upset only irritated him. Why did she have to act so reluctant?

He didn't believe she could keep up the pretense forever.

Despite Lily's frantic struggles, she failed to break free. Her skirt slid up to her waist instead. She bit her lip, unwilling to give in.

When Xavier's lips grazed the corner of her eyes, the dampness made him pause. He tilted his head and met her gaze.

"I could accuse you of rape, Xavier!" Lily quavered. Her voice and body trembled.

Her body was pressed tightly against his, and he could feel every tremor. Her trembling made him uneasy.

"We're not divorced yet. This is a marital duty," he replied. He gripped her chin and forced her to meet his gaze.

Her teary eyes made her look as though she were on the brink of collapse.

Xavier's gaze darkened. He became more emotional after drinking, and though seeing her cry frustrated him, it also made his heart ache.

His grip on her chin softened, and his voice became gentle in an instant.

"Lily, don't you miss me?" he rasped. His baritone voice echoed in Lily's ears.

Her heart skipped a beat. Her eyes brightened, and she couldn't help but look at him.

Xavier's eyes were dazed and filled with a tenderness she had never seen before. The look in his eyes even began to soothe the ache in her heart, which had throbbed over the past few days. Lily couldn't fathom how he had suddenly become so gentle when, just a moment ago, he had been so aggressive. Just like she failed to comprehend how he could still have sex with her when he clearly loved Sarah.

Xavier peppered kisses from the tip of her nose to her lips. After a brief kiss, he eagerly moved lower. His actions became rougher in his urgency.

Cold wind slipped through the slightly ajar window, sending a chill through the room and clearing the haze from Lily's eyes.

It also snapped her back to reality.noveldrama

She grabbed the blanket and rasped, "I don't."

Hovering over her, Xavier froze. He raised his head and leaned toward her lips again. He swallowed her resentment in a kiss.

Her reluctance annoyed him, but he had given her a chance. He crooned to her and flirted with her, yet she still didn't appreciate it.

She couldn't blame him for ignoring her feelings now. Her tears were probably fake, anyway. She was just a housewife, but she showed up in front of him in such a scanty outfit. Wasn't she deliberately trying to seduce him?
