Chapter 1921
Vera was anxious, but she knew that now was not the time to panic. The more critical the moment, the more composed she needed to be. Taking a deep breath, she steadied herself and sat next to Caleb.
The food was served quickly, but even though Nash had suggested they eat first, he only took a few casual bites before setting his utensils down.
"I hear Mason Corporation is looking to partner with York Corporation on our new project," Nash said casually.
The York Corporation's latest project required a reliable construction materials supplier.
But their vetting process was rigorous.
And even with that, Nash had better options. There was no real need to choose the Masons.
Still, since Caleb had made the introduction, Nash figured it wouldn't hurt to hear them out. Hearing this, Vera carefully placed her utensils down, trying to contain her excitement.
"Yes," she said. "The Mason Corporation has been in the construction materials industry for nearly ten years."
"But aren't you bankrupt?" Nash leaned back, his fingers interlocked as he studied her with sharp, hawk- like eyes. "From what I understand, your company still owes the banks a significant amount. How do you expect me to believe you're capable of handling this?"
He had come out of respect for Caleb.
But he wasn't a charity.
The Mason family's financial troubles weren't his problem.
If he went around saving every bankrupt company, he wouldn't have time to run his own.
If Vera wanted this deal, she needed to convince him with solid reasoning, not just Caleb's endorsement. Luckily, Vera had prepared well.
She wasn't naive enough to think that just getting a meeting with Nash meant she had the deal in the bag. During the past few days, she had done her homework.
"Mr. York, I've put together some documents for you." She slid a folder across the table. "These are the details of our factories. Every single one of them is Mason-owned."
It was a little inconvenient to use paper, but without access to a projector and carrying a laptop being impractical, this was the best option.
Thankfully, Nash wasn't the type to mind.
He flipped through the pages, quickly skimming the contents.
But even from just the first page, his brows lifted slightly in surprise.
It was clear, concise and straight to the point.
Before this meeting, Nash had done a brief background check on Vera.
From what he had found, she had never been groomed as the heir to the Mason Corporation.
Her father had spoiled her, and with an older brother expected to take over the business, she had been free to study whatever she wanted.
Her major? Music.
BUMS
Hardly the background of someone qualified to sit at a negotiation table. Yet the moment he saw her proposal, he realized he had underestimated her. Who said a sheltered heiress couldn't stand on her own one day?
"This is a good start," Nash admitted as he
youced the folder down. "But if
you think this alone is enough fo convince me, you're wrong
Vera's palms had been sweating from nerves.
But when she heard those words, her eyes lit up.
She had passed the first round.
Instinctively, she glanced at Caleb.
He smirked slightly-as if encouraging her to keep going.
Nash caught the silent exchange.
Caleb's expression was calm, but there was something in his eyes... something even he himself might
not have noticed.noveldrama
Interesting.
These two were interesting.
"I know it won't be easy for you to choose the Mason Corporation," Vera continued, regaining her composure. "But I believe we have one key advantage over the O competition."
She paused for a second, making sure Nash was paying attention.
Then, with complete seriousness, she said—
"We're cheap, reliable, and efficient."
Nash blinked.
For a second, the room fell silent.
He hadn't expected that.
He had assumed she would try to appeal to business strategy, reputation, or long-term partnership benefits.
But instead―
She had gone straight for the most practical reason possible.
And honestly?
It was pretty damn convincing.
What do you think?
