CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1915

"This works for me." Ben had no objections.

The problem was that Jamie and Lydia were busy, and Nina, noticing that Caleb was the only one who had brought a girlfriend, decided not to go.

Vera felt a little out of place being the only woman in a group of powerful men.

But considering that these people had the power to revive Mason Corporation, she was willing to push through the discomfort.

She hadn't expected, however, that a quick trip to the restroom would lead her to an encounter with Luna. Luna, who had just undergone an appendectomy, should have been resting in a hospital bed-yet here she was.

Their eyes met, and for the first time, Luna took a good look at Vera, scrutinizing her carefully.

Vera wasn't as beautiful as Luna, and Luna had already looked into her background. Mason Corporation had gone bankrupt, yet somehow, Vera had managed to end up by Caleb's side.

There was no way this was a coincidence.

"Did Caleb make a deal with you?" Luna asked bluntly.

Vera hadn't expected that question.

But then again, whatever entanglements existed between Caleb and Luna had nothing to do with her. "Whether he did or not, that's between me and him. It has nothing to do with you."

Luna let out a sharp laugh. "That's bold of you to say. If you hadn't latched onto Caleb, where do you think you'd be right now?"

So that was it.

Luna finally understood why Caleb had brought this woman to the gathering and why Vera had seemed completely unbothered.

This wasn't a real engagement.

It was just a ploy.

A transaction Caleb had arranged just to get under her skin.

Vera had only wanted to use the restroom. She hadn't expected to run into Luna, let alone have her throw these kinds of accusations at her.

And Luna's cold, detached expression made it clear that she didn't think Vera was worth a second thought.

But since Luna was already being this aggressive, Vera saw no reason to hold back.

"Where I end up whether I live or die-has nothing to do with you," Vera shot back. "If it bothers you so much that I'm with Caleb, why don't you goget him back yourself? he still chooses you, then that's your win."

With that, she stepped past Luna, deliberately putting distance between them.

Luna, however, had no intention of lowering herself to such a level.

When Vera came out of the restroom, Luna was still standing there, waiting.

Vera met Luna's gaze head-on. "If you have something to say, just say it. If this is about Caleb, I suggest you go talk to him yourself."

"Tell Caleb to quit with these pathetic little tricks," Luna said coldly. "He won't get a rise out of me. And he'll never have me."

With that, she turned on her heel and walked away without looking back. Vera had expected some kind of warning, maybe even a threat. But this? Luna really thought too highly of herself.

She didn't exaggerate or twist the story when she told Caleb about the encounter. She waited until his friends had left before relaying the conversation. noveldrama

"Luna told me to pass along a message," Vera said evenly. "She said what's between us is just a transaction, and that you should stop playing petty games because she never fall for them. Or for you."

Caleb's relaxed expression shifted instantly.

"What did you just say?"

He had been slightly buzzed from the drinks, but in that moment, he sobered up completely.
