Raynee couldn't understand where he got that wound from. In an instant, she frowned and her body went rigid!

She didn't know that her words, the question she asked out of concern, the inquiry she spat out without a doubt, had instantly wiped out Wyatt's flames of passion.

His distracted gaze fell on the wound. It seemed to open a gate in his memory storage as the ravishing sceneries once again flooded his mind. All of a sudden, Wyatt felt that something was amiss. He jumped out of the sofa as if he had seen a ghost. Breathing heavily, he put on his clothes as his heart pounded wildly.

"Wyatt?"

Raynee sat up, her eyes widened, "What's wrong?"

What reaction was that?

For a moment, she could not comprehend the situation. He was acting too strangely. She could not hide her surprise.

They were burning with passion just a second ago, yet now it was as if they were suddenly thrown into a cold icehouse. The sudden change caught Raynee off guard, and she felt hurt too. Wyatt treated her as though she were some sort of virus.

His expression was peculiar. It was incomprehensible. He seemed to be pondering about something. It made Raynee puzzled as well.

As Wyatt buttoned his shirt, his expression darkened as he spat out, "It's nothing. It's just, there's something I need to do later-"

The words escaped his mouth before he could even think about it. He himself was stunned by what he did too. Did he just lie to her?

Even though his body had reacted before his mind could comprehend the situation, Wyatt really didn't want to do it. Even after he came back to his senses, he knew that he didn't want to do it, not right then. Every bone and every muscle in his body rejected the idea of it. He seemed to hear numerous voices echoing around his ears, telling him-No, not now!

That was the only thought in his head. Although he had noticed Raynee's distress and the uncomfortable atmosphere, he could not persuade himself into doing it.

Fortunately, his phone rang. It was a lifesaver.

It doesn't matter who was calling. Wyatt was grateful for the caller no matter what! Therefore, it was a call he must answer!

He picked up his phone and walked away. The tense atmosphere seemed to ease up.

The foreign words came out of Wyatt's mouth so fluently, and he laughed and chuckled from time to time. She could tell that he was talking about business matters-

Thus, after listening closely for about two minutes, Raynee gathered her attention back on the situation earlier. Was it all her illusion? Why did she feel like he didn't want to touch her?

She felt like something was going to happen. Something bad.

They have been together for so many years. After stepping into adulthood, they've never been as impulsive. Even though when they first separated, there were a couple of times when they almost could not control their desires, but they were youngbloods, and he was lively and energetic, so it was a little hard for him to restrain himself.

The couple has had more than a few fights regarding the matter. She didn't want to give it to him! It was not because she was afraid he would not be responsible for her, she just did not want their relationship to go there yet. Once they had gone there, there was no going back. Of course, even if they had done protection, accidents still happen. She was not ready for a child yet. UMXWANRIZJU

Additionally, people are usually more interested in things they did not possess. If she had given away her virginity too easily, Wyatt may lose interest too quickly. She didn't want to risk losing Wyatt or her career.

Needless to say, although they have argued quite a lot, their relationship had gotten better and better after every fight. For the last couple of years, perhaps it was because of time, or maybe they were both too busy, and they've matured, the desire wasn't as strong anymore. The intensity of their love seemed to have weakened. However, even though a little voice in her head kept reminding her to not give in too easily, she still wanted to give him her virginity!

If they had continued earlier, she wouldn't have asked him to stop-

offer a long while, Raynee's eyebrows remained furrowed as she couldn't understand why he suddenly quit.

It was as if a kite had broken from its string. Something was lost to them forever. She felt like something was wrong, but she couldn't grasp what the problem was. Every now and then, she could still hear Wyatt on the phone, and it only made her more irritated and annoyed!

After hanging up the phone, Wyatt returned to see Raynee upset. He recalled everythi that had happened earlier and knew that she wasn't happy with it.

However, Wyatt's mind was a mess too. He couldn't figure out his mess yet, so he felt that he couldn't touch her, or he shouldn't touch her. Perhaps it was a habit he had developed due to his job. Every time he saw a risk, he would take the time to understand and analyze it before making his next move. He wasn't one to jump right into risks before thinking twice.

He opened his mouth to explain.

"It was a friend of mine. Something happened, and I need to go out later. I don't know when I'll be back. Why don't I send you home?"

Even though he posed a question, he was actually informing her, not asking for her approval.

In a flash, Raynee's face fell, "Why go out when I'm still here? Is it because you don't want to be with me? Are you fleeing from

When she got up, she was furious. She wasn't the one interrupting him, he could've turned his friend down, couldn't he?

"Raynee, what are you saying?"

Wyatt shook his phone in hand.

"Can't you see? They've already put it on the table, I can't just turn them down! I'd have to show up, at least-"

If she didn't want to leave, she could stay in his room, but it just seemed weird to leave her alone there.

Raynee bit her lips and said nothing. Her anger was apparent!

She was probably trying to subdue them.

Simultaneously, Wyatt tried to adjust his mindset.

"Don't be mad, alright? We still have a lot of time to meet up! Isn't Christmas the day after tomorrow? By then, your boss would have to let you go on holiday, then

we'll meet again. I'll stay here for a few more days for you!"

Christmas was a big holiday there, so usually, they'd have a ten-day break. However, due to the Black Pool Dance Festival, they didn't dare

"Alright, be a good girl! If you want to stay here, just stay, else I'll send you back! I

He raised his glass and downed the wine in one gulp. His eyes were narrowed as

he couldn't stop himself from heaving a long sigh.

Why? Why was he escaping? Wasn't that what he had wanted? Wasn't she the

woman of his dreams? He was going to get her, but why'd he stop?

Was he afraid of her rejection? Was that why he rejected her first?

Maybe he just wanted to wait for a better occasion?

Maybe he didn't want to hurt her?

He had tried coming up with countless excuses for his actions earlier, but in the

end, Wyatt realized that not a single one of them was true-he just didn't want to do

it!

Was it because he had waited for too long? Were his hormones slowing down?

The idea flashed in his mind. Another woman suddenly overtook his mind. Wyatt sat straight up and a complicated expression appeared on his face.

"What's wrong with a widow?" They asked, "It's not her fault she's so alluring!"

"She was stunning, proud, and hardworking. She didn't cheat, and she didn't rely

on men.

glass of wine in midair for a long time. He then knocked his forehead and

swallowed another full glass of wine.
