They exchanged glances as the room fell silent. Harry was the one to break it, "Waverly, you're different! Something happened. Are people talking nonsense about you again?"

The only thing Harry could think about was those rumors about her. Even mentioning it made him furious, "Or did someone bully you?"

His younger sister was the treasure he and his father held dear in their hands. They were dubious about her marriage with that Franklin Wright guy, but even though they've tried to prevent it, they had caused her nothing but misery and pain!

His mood was unstable, but Harry didn't dare show it. However, he knew that they were family. They had known each other for about two decades now. She knew him well. With the snacks stuffed in her mouth, Waverly moved close to him. She didn't touch him with her hands, but she rested her head on his body as she

shook it softly.

"Harry, do you think I'm having a bad time?"

She smiled cheekily at him. Waverly felt warm in her heart.

"I'm just on a business trip! You guys were nearby, so I thought I'd stay here for a couple of days. It's the weekends, isn't it? I'm gonna go back on Monday! What? You don't want to feed me, do you? And you said you were going to take care of me for life!"

Harry rolled his eyes and poked her forehead.

"You little brat..."

She was acting like a spoiled child. Harry couldn't hide the joy in his eyes as he continued, "Dad's worried about you."

The two of them were men, so there were some things they just couldn't discuss in detail with her. It doesn't matter how kind her stepmother was. At the end of the day, they weren't related by blood. The two men were still very worried. It was a miracle that they were able to maintain such a friendly and peaceful facade!

"Waverly, if something happened, don't carry the burden yourself!"

After a whole day's worth of thinking, Harry finally squeezed that one sentence out. He didn't know how to talk to her about the other things! Before he could continue, Waverly interrupted him.

"I know! I'm the daughter of the Castle family and the younger sister of Harry Castle of Yecaeus City. I'll certainly marry into a good family, and even if I don't, my brother will feed me for life! Yeah, it wouldn't be a problem to raise a dozen little children!"

That was what her father and brother kept telling her. Except for the last sentence, though. She added that herself!

Harry was stunned to see her change. When Harry said those to her before, she would only smile. And even though she tried to hide it, Harry could always see through her fake smile and see through her pains and sorrow. But now-

Did she actually just crack a joke?

Although she did that just to comfort and reassure him, she was obviously different!

Harry poked her forehead like she was still a child. However, his eyes were soft. "Don't talk nonsense. You're a girl, be serious, else what would people think of you?"

Since she was fine, he heaved a sigh of relief!

Harry pushed her a little before standing up, "Alright, it's getting late. Get a good night's sleep after you finish these! Call me if you need anything! And remember to lock your door!"

"Roger that-"

Waverly waved as she gave him a clumsy smile, "Good night, Harry!"

"Good night."

Harry disappeared behind the closed door as soon as he bid her good night.

Waverly pouted as she nibbled on the snacks. She sighed as she realized that she couldn't stay home for too long! Otherwise, her beloved father and brother would die from anxiety for her!

Pathetic...She couldn't be a tortoise forever.

She couldn't hide under her shell forever. She had to go back!

However, her brother's smile before he left made her feel lighter.

She squeezed the last of the snacks into her mouth and cleansed her hands with

a wet towel. Then, she rolled back into bed and decided to spend some time with her father before returning on Monday!

On the other side of the story, Wyatt Johnson had been pretty hard-working as he kept going on business trips. He even went as far as the United Kingdom.

It had been some time since he'd been so occupied with work!

Perhaps he had dragged on for too long. When they first separated, he still couldn't take back all his love for her. He'd make an effort to meet her every month or two, and if he went on a business trip around the area, he'd take the time to go find her. However, after two years, he started seeing her less and less. Perhaps he had moved on from her, or perhaps he didn't bother to put in that extra effort anymore. noveldrama

Sometimes when he was free, he'd rather peruse a book at home than answer a single call, let alone travel so far to see her! People said that distance is nothing when one has the motive and heart to keep going on. However, he felt that in their long-distance relationship, the distance was everything it was their greatest enemy that was tearing them apart.

Maybe their love for each other just wasn't strong enough. Or perhaps reality had finally won the battle?

Although he couldn't find the cause of the problem, Wyatt knew that his feelings for her were slipping.

In the high-class restaurant, Wyatt thought about the matter as he ate the steak

he didn't really enjoy. Even though he was eating the steak with his subconscious, his actions were still graceful as ever.

"Wyatt, what do you think?"

A gentle female's voice suddenly barged into his mind. He came back to his

senses and was obviously startled, "What?"

"I said Christmas is coming. The hotels are already hosting a whole bunch of activities. I love your surprise, by the way. This year, we can go ice-skating, or maybe we can go to parties too! We can get a lot of gifts, open them, eat delicacies, watch movies, and just enjoy the day! Your present for me this year must be very special, right?"

As she rummaged through her salad, Raynee spoke with much delight and joy,

yet disappointment flashed through her eyes as she glanced at the man, "I've been talking to you forever, but you don't seem to be listening. What kind of case are you thinking about now?"

How bold of him to daydream while hanging out with her!

Even though Raynee sounded dissatisfied, she was quite the opposite.

As Wyatt came back to his senses, he scanned his surroundings and seemed embarrassed. Christmas? Presents?

To be frank, he hadn't even been thinking about it!

He met her up that day to escape from his world, he didn't do it for her! He didn't

even know what day it was!

Turns out Christmas was around the corner!

Even though not a lot of people valued the celebration, it was still a pretty special day. He wondered if she celebrates Christmas? If so, with who? And how? Those thoughts suddenly appeared in Wyatt's mind. Even he was shocked.
