Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia)

Chapter 1296

Willy stood up and held Yvette's hand, his eyes gleaming when he looked up. "Laurie?"

"Mommy..."

Turning around, Yvette ran straight to Lauren this time, hugging her legs, nuzzling affectionately, her face as bright as the sun.

After wiping the dust off her temple, Lauren shot a nasty look at Willy. "Finally see me? What a waste of two pairs of big round eyes..."

She was beginning to think if she was invisible.

Hearing the hints of jealousy in her feigned anger, Willy chuckled as he walked toward her. "Haha, I was going to call you, but I got a call right as I got off the plane. I didn't have the time!"

"Oh, you! You're really becoming a doting father!"

Lauren suddenly felt a tug that couldn't be ignored as they bantered. "Mommy, Mommy, look at my Bree... Pretty, right?"

Their lips curved into a smile as their eyes met. "Yeah, it's really pretty! You can take Bree to school openly now!"

With that, she caressed Yvette's hair. "Let's go home!"

"Okay..."

Beaming with joy, Yvette held Lauren's hand and reached out for Willy's. But right as she tried to move, she realized she couldn't, only struck with revelation after switching her hands twice.

"Daddy, daddy, that hand, here!"

Greatly amused once more, the couple held their daughter's hands as they headed toward the car parked not far away. Meanwhile, the little one was oozing happiness, humming something as she skipped.

"Ya-ya-la, la-wu-wu, do-la-do-do..."

As their eyes kept meeting, tacitly slowing down, Lauren once again realized the irreplaceable role parents played in children's lives.

Right as they reached the gates of their home, an angry figure charged toward the front of the car.

Isla?

Before Lauren could react, Isla had already destroyed the window.

"I'll go take a look!"

Right as Willy turned, Lauren said, "It's fine, I'll take care of it!"

She got out of the car as she spoke, and following that, Isla pointed angrily at her. "You backpedaling fiend! You've clearly set me up! Give me the land title back!" "What do you think you're doing? There's no such thing as turning back when the goods are delivered, and the bill is cleared. Do you know how to trade at all?"

Lauren's nonchalance rendered Isla seething with fury. "You, you clearly took me for a ride!"

With that, she rolled her sleeve up, revealing two visibly clear red marks on her fair, tender arm.

"Look at this; it's because of you Mom and Dad hit me! I'm going to tell Willy Bowles you sold him to me; you never liked him in the first place, and you toyed with his feelings..."

"You didn't tell him?"

Lauren retorted, then glanced over her shoulder knowingly before continuing, "He's inside. Go ahead; tell him!"

Wide-eyed, gobsmacked, Isla burst into tears the next second.

"Wah... You've set me up! I don't even have my allowance anymore. You two joined forces to set me up! Dad even vowed never to let me go home if I don't bring the land title back. Wah..."

Isla bawled like a child as she wiped her tears away.

And Lauren was taken aback by her reaction.

While Isla whined, Willy and Yvette had gotten out of the car.

"Shame on you... Crying like a child when you're already so big."

Suddenly hearing a childish voice, Isla immediately stopped, biting her lips. Lauren was also jolted back to her senses, looking somewhat reprimandingly at Yvette.

"Yvette, don't be rude to Aunt Isla!"noveldrama

This time, it was Islas turn to be taken aback by Lauren's thoughtless words, musing, "Aunt? She still sees me as her sister? So this is her daughter? What a gorgeous little girl!"

Hiding behind Willy, Yvette covered her face before saying to Isla, "Hi, Aunt Isla... Please don't be mad at me..."

Something struck Islas heart

inexplicably bearing her words, and

she tilted her head to look at her before sporting coldly with her head up. "Hmph, I don't care. I'm broke; and don't have a place to go. I'm staying here. You're going to support me if you don't give the land title back!"

Lauren couldn't help wondering as she twitched her mouth; she never saw Isla as anything more than an eyesore in the past. But looking at her now, she was like a little girl. Nearly instantly, the past seemed to have become a fragile veil destined to go with the wind.

While she was deep in her thoughts, Willy handed Isla a check. "Find Lexx! This will be enough for a year if you spend it sparingly! Mr. Luther's anger would have been alleviated by then!"

Taking it cowardly from him, Isla stumped when she looked at the check and the name card. Half a million was written on the cheque, while the note on the card stated, '6million; 50k/mth'. There was a word or a letter-like symbol at the end of it, which she wondered if it was his signature or something.

Half a million dollars a month? He was pretty generous, giving her more than the allowance her father gave!

Isla pursed her lips and clutched the cheque and name card, muttering, "Seeing that you're so righteous, I'll begrudgingly call you my... brother-in-law then!"

She whispered her last few words, but Lauren still heard it, and right then, she thought something had touched her heart deeply.

Having lived shakily together for years, many memories were a blur to her now, but she never seemed to have acknowledged her as her sister. Being respectful toward her aside, she'd already thanked the heavens when she didn't give her a

hard time!

With a rare elation, Isla left after taking the money, her footsteps evidently lighter now. And for the first time, Lauren felt a uniquely indescribable feeling, chuckling unconsciously.

"That was generous of you! I've never seen you being so nice to me..."

Willy slowly approached her and put his arm across her shoulder. "You're not her! I don't have to consider her feelings when I gave her the money, but I'd worry about what you'd think about the things I get you!"

As their eyes met, Lauren was once again taken aback. Was that how he really saw it? Men's thoughts were probably just as unfathomable, huh?

It suddenly struck her that she had missed out way too much these recent years. With that, she tilted her head and leaned on him.

"Willy, I never seemed to have a

heart-to-heart conversation with you. I really am an idiot. I could've

gotten the answer by asking, yet et

chose to seek it out painstakingly. I won't keep my thoughts bottled up anymore. The heavens have given usa mouth so that we can communicate, no?" Content belongs

Losing her sight into the distance, she couldn't help lamenting how dark her world had been back then. The world was sunshine and butterflies, yet all she saw was the dark cloud above her...
