Chapter 174
Josephine had expected Yvan to be furious after she'd said that. She had even been prepared to deal with his anger. But to her surprise, not only was he not angry, but his expression which was usually mischievous showed a rare hint of seriousness.
"It does," Yvan said.
"What?" Josephine asked.
"It does have something to do with me."
Yvan slipped the lighter into his pocket, then pulled out a folded piece of paper, and placed it in front of her. "Take a look."
Josephine instinctively wanted to avoid him but was too curious about what he was handing her. So, she took the paper and unfolded it.
As soon as she saw what it was, she froze. It was a copy of a will. It stated that Joe had allocated more than 70% of his assets to Yvan. The remaining amount was split-half going to other relatives and the other half to Zayn.
In other words, Zayn would only receive about 13%. That was awfully meager.
"About six months ago, Dad was diagnosed with health issues. He thought he didn't have much time left, so he called me, asking me to return to see him one last time.
"At first, I thought he was lying, so I ignored him completely. Then one day, a lawyer informed me that Dad had changed his will, leaving most of his inheritance to me. That's when I knew something was off.
"If the lawyer was informing me, then Zayn would definitely find out too. And knowing his personality, he wouldn't just sit back and do nothing."
Six months ago was when Zayn cheated.
Josephine tried hard to recall whether he had shown any unusual behavior back then, but nothing stood out except that he had suddenly become busier.
"I didn't want to get caught up in some ridiculous inheritance war, so I made it
clear to Dad that I wouldn't take a single cent of his assets," Yvan added.
Josephine looked up at Yvan in surprise. That much money, and he was willing to just walk away from it just like that?
Yvan grinned. "What, you don't believe me?"
"I do."
She knew Yvan well enough to know that he truly didn't care about money. Of course, the biggest reason he was so indifferent was that his music royalties alone were enough for him to live in luxury for a lifetime.

"As long as you believe me, nothing else matters," Yvan replied.
Yvan lowered his gaze, looking at her delicate face. He couldn't
understand why this face had haunted him for three years.

inheritance, so he started secretly transferring funds out of Forbes Group.
"He thought he was being discreet, but Dad knew everything."
Josephine's heart sank. So, Joe had known about Zayn's actions all along. And he
had known for six months.
She was just confused. How did Joe always know everything?
"Those two love playing mind games. They've been like this since Zayn was a kid. At first, I thought if they enjoyed their little battles, could just stay out of it since it had nothing to do with me.
"But one day, Dad told me Zayn had cheated. And that he was using the woman
he cheated with to transfer company funds. That's when I decided to come back."
Josephine suddenly understood. "So, Joe knew about Zayn's affair from the start? His acting skills really are something."
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. Especially when she remembered how Joe acted so heartbroken for her when she told him she wanted a divorce. The thought of it made her sick.
What do you think?
