Chapter 167
In fact, Josephine had indeed sold all those gifts on a second-hand website, and the money was still sitting untouched in her account.
So, how had it turned into a charitable donation?
Perplexed, she clicked on the trending topic and saw a pinned post from a media account that read:
"According to an anonymous source, Mrs. Forbes-Josephine Dunn-did sell all the gifts Zayn gave her. However, all the proceeds were donated to a charity supporting underprivileged children in rural areas. Part of the funds have already been used to build a charity-funded school and to sponsor 103 girls from impoverished regions."
What nonsense!
Could this be Zayn's doing?
Was he trying to flatter her, only to later "expose" her as a liar and paint her as a fraud?
Angry and anxious, she was about to message Zayn and curse him out when she noticed the attached photos beneath the post.
The first image was a donation certificate. The second showed the construction of the charity-funded school. The third was a detailed record of the fund transfers supporting the rural children. And the fourth children holding signs that read: "Thank you, Ms. Dunn!"
Wait-what?
Josephine was completely baffled.
The donation was indeed made in her name. The school entrance even had the name "Josephine Dunn" engraved in large letters, and the financial record clearly bore her name as well.
Where did these pictures come from?
Holding her phone tightly, Josephine asked, "Manson, did you arrange all this?"
Mason sounded just as shocked, "Of course not! I don't have that kind of money. And if I did, I'd definitely tell you I wouldn't hide it from you."
"Then who did it?"
"You really don't know anything about it?" Mason was even more surprised. "I thought this was your hidden card."
Josephine immediately replied, "It wasn't me."
At that time, she had been completely heartbroken. All she could think about was leaving Zayn.
Could it have been her father?
Although it seemed unlikely, Josephine still messaged her father, Benjamin, to confirm—but as expected, it wasn't him.noveldrama
Then who could it be?
No matter how much she racked her brain, she couldn't come up with an answer.
"Ms. Dunn, maybe you should check the person who bought from you," Mason suggested. "You might find a clue-maybe they're a fan of yours?"
"Impossible!"
If the buyer had been a fan, they would have at least asked for a signature or a photo.
But when the buyer collected the items, they didn't say a word. They had been discreet, showing no sign of wanting to interact with her at all.
Now that she thought about it, the buyer did seem a little suspicious.
Usually, second-hand buyers would only pick up one or two items at most. But this person had contacted her immediately after the listing went live and bought everything in one go without hesitation.
What were they planning to do with all that stuff?
She opened her purchase history and clicked on the buyer's profile.
The page was empty-the username was just a random string of characters. Most suspicious of all,
the account had been registered on the very day they bought her items.
In other words, this person had created the account solely to purchase her items
and had never logged in again after the transaction.
Clearly, that buyer had noticed her listing the moment it was posted bought everything right away, and later resold it all-only to donate the proceeds to charity under her name.
This didn't seem like typical buyer behavior. It felt more like someone was quietly assisting her behind the scenes.
If it wasn't her father, then the only other person who might have done something like this was her mother-Sarah Ferk.
Even though Sarah had cut off contact after leaving, maybe just maybe she had been quietly watching over her all along, too ashamed to reach out directly.
The thought of it warmed Josephine's heart.
If it really was Sarah, Josephine wouldn't mind reconciling—if Sarah still cared for
her.
What do you think?
