What Separates Me and You

Chapter 476 What Else Could He Want?

Josephine remained silent for quite a while before lifting her head to look at Lewis.

"Then go ahead."

Upon hearing her words, Lewis was momentarily stunned. A look of disbelief flashed across his face.

Josephine continued, "Go ahead and kill whoever you want. Anyway, many people have died in your hand. Why don't you kill everybody, including Seth, Avery, and Quintin? That way, you won't be able to threaten me anymore."

Lewis stared at her without saying a word.

Undaunted, Josephine stared back at him.

After a moment of silence, she suddenly smiled, pushed past Lewis, and walked out.

This time, Lewis didn't stop her. He allowed her to leave the office.

The marriage certificate still lay on the ground, somehow bothering his eyes.

As Conrad approached the doorway, he saw Josephine exiting the office. He didn't even have a chance to greet her before she walked past him, completely ignoring him.

Conrad rubbed his nose and glanced back at the office.

Lewis stood by his desk, his hands resting on the surface. His eyes were closed as he took a deep breath.

Conrad was about to enter when a sudden loud noise made him jump in surprise.

He looked again and saw that Lewis had sent everything on the desk crashing to the floor. He even broke the computer into two.

The room was now in disarray.

Unsure what to do next, Conrad stood at the doorway.

Suddenly, Lewis turned his gaze toward him.

Conrad shuddered and instinctively straightened his posture.

Lewis' expression remained relatively calm if one disregarded the mess on the floor.

Conrad approached hesitantly and crouched down to help pick up the scattered items. He dared not make a single sound.

"Inform Seth and tell him to take over the company in Ablein."

Conrad blinked and looked up at Lewis before asking, "Chairman Alvarez, do we have a company over there?"

Lewis cast him a glance, and Conrad quickly added, "Oh, I remember now. We do have a logistics station in Strouburg. Since it's in the same country, can we arrange for him to go there?"

Lewis waved his hand, signaling for him to leave.

"But what if he refuses to go?"

Lewis' voice turned cold. "He doesn't have a choice!"

Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Conrad straightened his back and said, "Alright, I'll take care of it."

He quickly rushed out, feeling quite uncertain about the situation.

Seth was not an easy person to talk to. Would he agree to Lewis' arrangements?

Sighing, Conrad headed to find Seth. Seth was still dealing with the debts in the finance office.

While others were complaining, he remained remarkably calm. He leisurely sipped his coffee and flipped through the ledgers.

"Mr. Fairchild." Conrad approached him. "I have something to inform you about."

Seth's movements paused, and he smiled as he looked at Conrad. "Oh, what is it?"

"There's an issue with the company in Strouburg. Chairman Alvarez wants you to take over."

Seth's smile deepened at the news. "When?"

"As soon as possible."

"Alright, I got it," Seth answered casually and resumed flipping through the ledgers.

Conrad seemed puzzled. Did Seth agree with what he said?

This wasn't the Seth he knew.

Seeing Conrad still standing there, Seth raised a brow. "Is there anything else?"

Conrad snapped to his senses and scrutinized Seth with suspicion. "Nothing. Just get yourself prepared. It's best if you leave the day after tomorrow." With that, Conrad turned and walked away.

He still felt something was off. So he glanced at Seth again, but Seth seemed as steady as a rock.

Conrad couldn't figure out what Seth was up to. He decided to stop dwelling on it. He headed straight back to report to Lewis.

Anxious, Josephine returned to her department. She was unsure if her words earlier might have backfired and led to Lewis taking action against Seth.

Most of her colleagues were on their lunch break, but she noticed Wendy sitting by the window, engrossed in her phone instead of resting. Josephine walked over and sat on the couch beside her.

Wendy turned to look at her and whispered, "Oh, why are you back so soon? I thought you went home to take a rest."

Josephine smiled. "What are you doing?"

"Oh, I'm reading the news. Take a look at this." Wendy handed her the phone.

Josephine glanced at the screen and was surprised to see the news about Kiran. Alvarez Corp and the police had issued statements confirming that Kiran died in a car accident.

Her eyes widened involuntarily.

She didn't believe Kiran's death was an accident. Indeed, Lewis was ruthless enough to commit murder without hesitation. He seemed to be spiraling out of control.

Josephine began to worry about the consequences of what she said earlier.

Wendy sighed. "It's such a pity. He was so young and promising. He had only taken office for a short time."

Josephine remained silent, her emotions growing even more chaotic.

Wendy continued, "Now that President Kiran is dead, it's affecting Chairman Alvarez too."

Josephine blinked in confusion. "What do you mean?"

Wendy lowered her voice a bit. "Theizens have been claiming that something's wrong with Chairman Alvarez. In less than a year, so many members of the Alvarez family have died, and even Ms. Daphne ended up in jail. Only Chairman Alvarez is alive and well. What do you think?"

What else could Josephine think? Lewis was behind everything. Theizens were right.

"This whole situation seems really suspicious. But Chairman Alvarez doesn't seem like an evil person to me."

Josephine looked at her strangely. "How did you come to that conclusion?"

Wendy pondered for a while, the image of that handsome and aloof face flashing in her mind. "It's just a feeling, you know? He's already the chairman, and he has everything he could want. Why would he still engage in such things?"

Josephine's gaze flickered.

Indeed, he had everything he could ever want, so why would he still want more?

However, Wendy was a loyal fan of Lewis. She picked up her phone and argued with those online haters. While there were many haters, Lewis' dedicated fanbase was not to be underestimated either.

Both sides were engaged in a heated argument, but it was all in vain.

It neither attracted Lewis' attention nor would a few words from the haters result in his conviction.

All the disputes only served to increase his popularity.noveldrama

It was actually intriguing. How could someone who had never appeared on any entertainment platform or posted a single update garner more attention than some top-tier celebrities?

He probably had no idea how famous he had become.

It was really an unprecedented phenomenon.

"Chairman Alvarez is so handsome."

Sitting beside Josephine, Wendy sighed like a lovesick fan girl. Josephine glanced over and noticed that she had come across a video of Lewis attending an event.

The video was a bit blurry and obviously dated. It showed Lewis in a white suit, exuding an elegant and refined aura. It was the complete opposite of his indifference now.

Was this him from ten years ago?
