Unforgettable love

Chapter 858

Chapter 858:.

Officer Miller’s face began to turn redder and redder.

Wendy couldn’t take it anymore.

“Dad, I’m your only daughter, why are you giving so much care to a stranger, am I your offspring or is he?”. Wendy still didn’t understand Officer Miller’s strange action. She pointed at Boyce and asked vehemently.

Officer Miller squeezed his chest and felt anger consume him. Why was this daughter of his so disobedient and unwilling to take advice?

“Are you trying to make me so angry that I might die?” Officer Miller was breathing heavily as he said that.

Wendy cried until her whole face was covered with mucus and ears, “You are always protective of him and you didn’t give me half that much attention while I was your daughter. Ever since I was a girl, have you cared about me? Don’t you think it’s too late to educate me now?”.

Officer Miller staggered backward until his butt hit the couch. He gave the impression that he had just heard the most incredible thing in the world. He was always busy, so his daughter was primarily raised by his wife. Of course, Wendy would go out of her way to his wife in that they were both quite unreasonable.

“It’s my fault, it’s all my fault.” Officer Miller was very sorry.

He didn’t watch her much when she was a girl, now that she was an adult, he seemed to have lost his authority to have a word with her.

He was deeply sorry.

He regretted not having accompanied her in her growing up days and educated her.

“Dad.” Wendy was taken aback by her father’s countenance as she hurried to calm him. Officer Miller had such a distorted expression that she feared he was going to faint.

Officer Miller was beginning to enter his twilight years, and had served as the station’s chief officer for a long period of time. He was always serious on the job, which made him a respected man, and even after his retirement, his former subordinates and colleagues would greet and welcome him with an open arm, but right now….noveldrama

His own daughter was so ridiculous that he felt he had lost all face!

With his breath still short and ragged, he said while casting a stern look at his daughter, “You’re right. I have brought you into this world, but I have not brought you up right. Now that you have made a mistake, the fault is mine. I’m the one to blame here.”

“After all, I am your father and I bear some responsibility for your actions and mistakes. If you don’t want to apologize, I will apologize in your place.” Officer Miller turned to look at Boyce, “I didn’t raise my daughter right…”

“Dad, don’t apologize to her. He thought that by taking the position of chief officer he could be so disrespectful now. He is able to accomplish anything up to this point because of your help, but now just because of something so minor, he wants to find fault with you. He doesn’t know what gratitude is, and someone like that is not someone who should be respected!”

“You…” Officer Miller’s face was ugly with a greenish color as if the next thing expected of him was to pass out on the spot.

Boyce sighed secretly as he really wasn’t that petty when it came to his former superior. He was loathing his own daughter to the core, and that warranted Boyce’s attention now.

“Officer Miller, I’m not angry.”

Officer Miller took Boyce’s hand and Boyce struggled hard to speak. Only after a while did he open his mouth, “I’m sorry for you.”

His daughter had made more than just a mistake.

She knew better.

“Wendy, oh Wendy. We must talk reason all the time. Tell me, what did Boyce do that offended you? Can things be forced without any real feeling between two people? You didn’t stop at the first mistake, and I didn’t think I needed to scold you. As you said, I care too little about you, so I’m not worthy of reprimanding you. I simply feel sorry for you, and that’s why I decided to turn a blind eye to what you’ve done.”

His breathing was still ragged and he was now hammering his chest.

Otherwise, her breathing would not smooth out.

“Mistreating a child is like killing a child! I’m wrong all the time. I shouldn’t have let you do what I wanted all the time.” The ever domineering and proud Officer Miller had a trail of tears running down his cheeks. This showed that he was really upset.

Wendy was very startled at what she was seeing. Her father was always an imposing and strict figure in her heart, but now he was crying in front of a subordinate. He was a ghost of his former glorious self. He always cared about dignity, but now… suddenly, he felt empathy towards his father and hugged him.

“Dad, now I know I’m wrong…” Wendy began to wail in Officer Miller’s embrace.

Officer Miller stroked his daughter’s hair and said, “If you behave well, people will see it; if you don’t, someday someone will discover your ugliness too. What you have to do is live up to your own name and be guilt-free. Think hard, since your divorce, how many things have you done wrong? If you had always been faithful to Boyce, and based on his temperament, he would have treated you like a jewel. You’re the one who keeps making mistakes and missing his opportunities, so you have no right to blame others.”

Wendy said nothing in response to her father, which was an indication that some of that advice must have gotten through to her.

Officer Miller sighed and said to Boyce, “If I still have any weight on your heart, I should take advantage of my seniority and hope that this time you can forgive her. I give you my word that she won’t do anything to you from now on.”

Since Officer Miller had steered the conversation in that direction, Boyce couldn’t press his former boss any further: “I won’t pursue this matter. I was also at fault last time, as I was the one who went back on my own words. I was wrong too. Wendy, I’m sorry.”

Wendy made a lot of mistakes, which was an irrefutable fact. I had to admit that I was not a mistake-free saint as well, and I also hoped that Wendy could become more reasonable in the future, as opposed to just blaming others and biting others hard without taking a good look in the mirror.

She hoped that Wendy could see clearly where her faults were and appreciate the good things that others brought to the table.

Wendy continued to sob and cry in her father’s embrace, “I don’t want to hear you apologizing. Go away now and don’t ever appear in front of me again.”

Ouch!

Officer Miller let out a sigh again, “They say that children will always be indebted to their parents, and they certainly aren’t wrong.”

Boyce stood up, “Officer Miller, please take care of your health. There will be no one spreading nonsense rumors about this matter, and that is because it is you who is at the heart of the matter. If it were anyone else, I would not have let this go so easily. After all, this matter has given me a big headache, as I have just been promoted and immediately a complaint has been filed against me. So many people want to see me become a joke.”

This was also a sign of respect for Officer Miller and he wanted to show by actions that he would not pursue the matter with Wendy as well. However, he needed to remind everyone that he too had limits.

Officer Miller was someone who was very quick to pick up messages, so naturally he could read between the lines, “You don’t have to worry…from now on, we will no longer have anything to do with each other. You will walk your own single plank bridge, and I will walk my own path as well. We won’t interfere or become indebted in any way, and we won’t have anything to do with each other even until death!”

Wendy interrupted her father and roared at Boyce, “It’s not like you’re the only man in this world. It’s hard to find a toad with two legs, but that’s not the case with men. You’re not the only man in the world.”

Boyce’s expression was hard and solemn, he just looked at her calmly, “I really hope the best for you. We’ve known each other for a long time, and I still reserve a certain respect for you.”

Wendy froze for a moment as she realized that her vehement outpouring of emotion met his strangely calm gaze, which only made her look grotesque and ugly. For some time, she no longer knew what to say.

“I take my leave. Take care, Officer Miller.” He announced his departure and turned to leave.

After stepping off the elevator, a whiff of fresh air greeted him in the hallway. He stood firmly on the floor and let out a long, hard sigh before finally marching forward.

On the day of the Mid-Autumn holiday, Boyce took Jasmine to the grocery store to pick up some groceries. Of course, that included mooncake.

She didn’t buy it just for her own enjoyment. Those mooncakes could be used as gifts when the family got together during the Mid-Autumn festival. It was boring for him and Jasmine to stay at home, so they brought those mooncakes as gifts and visited the old mansion.

When he and Jasmine arrived, they met Doctor Jason at the door. He didn’t look so good .
