Jovan awkwardly tried to comfort Renee. However, his words sounded more hurtful and made her cry even louder.

"This is all your fault!" Renee raised her head, then pointed at him while bawling loudly." Did I ever anger you? Why did you frame me? What good did it bring you?"

"I..."

Jovan's heart softened because of how pitiful she looked when she cried profusely. However, he was a pretentious man and would not show that he had gone easy on her. Instead, he tried to provoke her even more.

"You can't change anything even if you cry loudly. Austin wants nothing but to kill you and your family now. If I were you, I wouldn't be in the mood to cry. I'll brace myself to manage a funeral for them."

Renee was flabbergasted. She didn't expect him to be this inhuman. She was heartbroken, but he kept hurting her. She cried even more profusely.

"I'll keep on crying. Let me go if you can't take it. If you don't, I'll keep on crying until you can no longer take it!"

She cried loudly as if she were trying to take revenge on him. After all, she had yet to come up with a way to run away. She might as well cry loudly to vent. Besides, he might let her go after getting annoyed with her crying.

Jovan was unresponsive. He had no idea if he could take it or not, but if she kept on crying, she would break his heart.

After a long silence, Renee got tired from crying. She went back to crying silently. Her silent cries saddened him more than her loud cries.

"Stop crying! I'll let you go!" Jovan covered his face and heaved a long sigh.

He had to compromise.

"Huh?" When Renee heard that, she stopped crying right away. She looked at him in a daze and wondered if she had heard him wrong. She looked like a child-her cheeks werenoveldrama

streaked with tears. She appeared both cute and pitiful.

Jovan felt sorry for her and cleared his throat.

"Even if I let you go, it won't change anything. There's already a conflict between both families. Plus, they assumed that you ran away with Stefan and humiliated the Baldwin family. If you go back now, you'll be tortured. Is it worth it?"

The reason he kidnapped Renee was to make the Baldwin family fall out with Stefan. Since he had gained what he wanted, it wouldn't bring much effect even if he let her go.

Besides, letting her go would confirm the Baldwin family's speculation and make things

worse.

However, Jovan couldn't bear to part with her and see her take risks.

"No!" Renee shook her head and bit her lips. Her eyes were teary. For the first time, she showed her soft side to him. "I won't die. The Baldwin and Hunt families won't watch me get killed. And you won't either... Am I right?"

The TV anchor had mentioned it. Although both families had gotten into a fight, she would be the only key factor that might make things better.
