Chapter 607
Dan was Hendrix's chief assistant, someone who was practically inseparable from him. So, who else could command Dan to do something like this if not Hendrix himself?
Sure enough, the next moment, Noelle saw Hendrix step out. He was wearing a simple shirt with the sleeves rolled up, the white cuffs smudged with dust. His hair was slightly disheveled, but this touch of disarray made him seem more human.
Noelle stared at him expressionlessly.
After two seconds of eye contact, Hendrix said, "What a coincidence!"noveldrama
Coincidence?
Noelle wanted to throw something at him because only a fool would believe this was a coincidence.
She didn't even bother giving him another glance. When the elevator doors opened, she took Rosie's hand and stepped inside.
Rosie, of course, recognized Hendrix. She had been staring at him intently, only turning to Noelle when the elevator doors finally closed. "Mommy, why is he here?"
"I don't know."
This answer clearly didn't satisfy Rosie. She muttered under her breath, "Ugh, he's so annoying! Why does he tag along everywhere we go?"
Noelle didn't respond. Instead, she pulled out her phone and began browsing rental listings in the area.
Even though moving was a hassle and she had grown familiar with the neighborhood, the inconvenience seemed to outweigh everything now. She refused to believe he'd still find a way to follow her if she left.
But finding the right place wasn't easy. Noelle spent the entire morning scrolling through listings, only to find one issue after another-poor orientation, awkward layouts, or outdated buildings.
More importantly, Rosie had already made friends here, and they had plans to start kindergarten together. Moving to a new environment would require a long adjustment period for Rosie.
Noelle felt dizzy from looking through so many listings and eventually had to give up. And so, when they returned home and ran into Hendrix again—still moving things—she was in no mood to be polite.
Holding Rosie's hand, she walked straight past him without giving him a chance to speak. Then, she opened her door and slammed it shut behind her with a loud bang.
Fortunately, Hendrix seemed to know that he wasn't welcome, so he didn't try to approach or disturb them.
For the next two days, aside from occasionally seeing his door open, Noelle barely felt his presence. This, in turn, made her reconsider her plans to move.
Of course, the more important
reason was that she had visited a few properties, but none of them had a better location or conditions than her current place. She had also asked Rosie, and Rosie had made it clear she was unwilling to part with her friends.
So, Noelle had to put the plan to move on hold.
Just as Noelle thought life could continue peacefully, Hendrix clearly had other ideas.
These past two days, every time Noelle took Rosie downstairs, he would follow at a distance. He never got too close. And whenever Noelle turned around, he would be on his phone, as if he were just out for a casual stroll.
Thanks to the previous incident, the entire apartment complex now knew who he was. Every time he stepped out, he was met with a chorus of warm greetings. Some even looked at him and Noelle with knowing smiles.
The news of him moving in across from Noelle had spread through the entire apartment complex, which made Noelle realize one thing-she and Rosie had to move to a new place, no matter what.
