Hendrix's compatibility test came back quickly-it was a match.

However, Noelle didn't feel the slightest bit relieved when she saw the result, as the conversation with Hendrix the day before hadn't gone smoothly.

Hendrix had left, clearly still angry, and the medical team was obviously closer to him. So, he must have already received the results by now, yet he hadn't contacted her.

Clutching her phone, Noelle hesitated for a while before finally deciding to call him.

The phone rang for a long time.

The seconds stretched out, and she was even beginning to think he might not answer when finally, his voice came through, "Hello?"

For some reason, his voice which she had once been so familiar with-now sent a shiver through her body. Her grip on the phone tightened involuntarily.

Her lips twitched for a second before she finally uttered, "It's me."

Hendrix's response was quick. His voice was calm, but Noelle still felt her heart tighten for a moment. She pressed her lips together, then said, "The results are out. You must have seen them by now, right?" "Yup."

"So, when will you-"

"Noelle, I've changed my mind," Hendrix cut her off.

Honestly speaking, Noelle had expected this. In fact, when she heard him say that, she even felt a sense of "I knew it".

But her heart still clenched painfully. After a moment, she asked through gritted teeth, "What do you mean?"

"I've thought about it. Since you see me as such a despicable person, wouldn't it be a disservice to your opinion of me if I just went ahead with the surgery without a fuss?"

"Hendrix, I-"

"Don't bother explaining. Your attitude yesterday made everything clear." Hendrix let out a cold laugh. "And don't expect me to believe you anymore."

"So? What do you want?" Noelle asked in a tight voice.

"I want to meet you outside of the hospital."

"But I need to take care of Rosie!"

"There are plenty of people at the hospital who can do that. But of course, if you don't want to, that's fine. After all, the kid doesn't share my last name, and she's never called me 'Daddy.' I've already done more than enough by paying her medical bills.

"She can just wait for a match from the bone marrow registry."

He was about to hang up, but Noelle quickly said, "Wait!"

Hendrix didn't say anything, but the fact the call hadn't ended told Noelle he was still listening.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before asking, "Where do you want to meet?"

Hendrix chose a hotel as the meeting place.

Although Noelle didn't want to meet him at a place like Nivis Villa, when she saw the address he sent, she instinctively wanted to back out.

But Hendrix's attitude had been

made crystal clear. Now, he was

determined to live up to the worst of Noelle's expectations of him. So, the more vile he acted, the better
