The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 486

To Noelle's surprise, Hendrix didn't show up the next day.

However, the team of medical experts he had promised arrived promptly. They held a meeting with Rosie's current doctors and ultimately decided to proceed with the surgery.

As Rosie's mother, Noelle had already undergone a compatibility test, but she hadn't been a match. Now, they were waiting for Hendrix's results.

If his test also came back negative...

Noelle didn't dare to think further.

Hendrix didn't show up over the next two days as well. His absence made Noelle realize his intentions. He had arranged for the doctors and agreed to a compatibility test solely out of a sense of paternal responsibility. It had nothing to do with anything else.

Honestly speaking, realizing this brought her a sense of relief.

After all, a few days ago, Seline had mentioned that children were a bond between parents. And because of Rosie, there might be a chance for something to change between Noelle and Hendrix.

When Noelle heard this, her first reaction had been fear-yes, fear.

After all, it was said painful memories were the most deeply ingrained. So, every time she thought of Hendrix, she would feel a physical ache in her heart and throughout her body. It was a visceral reaction, something she couldn't overcome or immunize herself against.

At the time, she didn't respond to Seline's comment. But now, she no longer had to worry about that. On the fourth day of Rosie's rehospitalization, someone unexpected arrived at the hospital-Dylan.

It has been a long time since Noelle had seen him. The last time was probably at one of her book signings.

Dylan had been there as a guest, as he held some shares in the publishing house she was collaborating with. The two hadn't interacted much during the event, treating it purely as work. They didn't even share a meal afterward.

Later, the next time Noelle heard about him, he had left his position as a university professor and entered the business world.

He had always been intelligent, and with the connections his family provided, he quickly made a name for himself in the industry.

And now, he was a successful entrepreneur.

Just recently, Noelle had come

across an article about him. In the photo, he was dressed in a sharp, tailored suit, wearing a natural yet professional smile, as if he had fully embraced his new identity

At that moment, the man standing before her now was no different.

He held a bouquet of lilies in his hands, his smile warm and genuine. "Sorry. Did I come at a bad time?"

Noelle snapped out of her thoughts and shook her head, standing up.

Rosie was awake. She first looked at Dylan before turning to Noelle.

"Rosie, this is Mr. Pritchett," Noelle introduced.

Rosie obediently greeted him.

Dylan smiled at her, then turned to Noelle. "I didn't know about Rosie's situation. If I had, I would've come sooner."

"It's fine." Noelle shook her head. "I

know you're busy. You didn't have to go out of your way to come." Her tone was polite but distant

Dylan picked up on it and gave a small smile before glancing around the room. "Did Mr. Freeman arrange this?"

Noelle didn't answer.

Dylan paused, then said, "There's something I'd like to discuss with you. Shall we step outside?" Noelle glanced at Rosie first.

Rosie was clearly curious about

Dylan's identity, but she knew not to
