Upon hearing Horace's words, Dallas walked up to Matthew without a second thought and passed him the phone.

"Mr. Wood, the general, wants to speak with you."

General? Horace's reputation didn't even match up to Brad, so how did he make it to the top? Still, Horace held a powerful position and commanded a huge army.

Matthew had seen Horace's ruthless side before. As he looked at the phone, he raised an eyebrow.

Dallas spotted Matthew blankly standing on his spot and ridiculed, "What's wrong? Are you scared now?"

Watching the scene unfold, Sebastian felt his heart jump to his throat. Who wouldn't be shaking in their boots after crossing paths with someone like Horace?

However, Matthew coldly snorted. He grabbed the phone and hit the speaker button before saying, "Hello."

Horace's aged, authoritative voice came through the phone. "Are you the one trying to kill Dallas?"

He spoke just a few words, yet they carried an air of authority. The tension in the air was palpable. With the phone on speaker, everyone in the room heard it loud and clear.

Upon hearing that, Sebastian's face turned pale, and his eyes were filled with despair and helplessness. He slumped down next to Theo.

Standing at the doorway, Cassidy looked puzzled as she had no idea what was happening.

Out of the situation, Dallas looked triumphant. Horace's words hit him like a rush of adrenaline, and he seemed to forget his wound. With a contemptuous look, he fixed his gaze on Matthew.

Matthew scoffed. "That's right. I want to take his life."

The phone call suddenly went silent. Horace didn't seem to expect Matthew to respond that way. "Do you even know who I am?"

Matthew certainly knew, but he still replied, "I have no idea."

Horace paused momentarily before saying, "I cant tell if you're being serious or if you truly don't know. I'm Horace Wood, and I work for the military. Do you finally understand who you're messing with now?"

Matthew nodded. Realizing it was merely a phone call and Horace couldn't see

him, he nonchalantly added, "Got it."

Got it? Was that all? Horace was taken aback. He carried such a fearsome presence and reputation that even the mayor of Lambda City had to respectfully address him as Mr. Wood. How could Matthew reply him so dismissively?

Taking a deep breath, Horace fought back the urge to lose his temper, but his words were still tinged with frustration.

"Since you know who I am, listen carefully. Dallas is part of the Wood family. Don't you dare lay a finger on him."

Was Matthew going to stop teaching Dallas a lesson just like that?

On the bed next to him, Theo had been beaten to a pulp. And what about those who died at the hands of the Red Wolves? Were they going to die for nothing just because of Horace's words?

The longer Matthew dwelled on it, the angrier he got. Eventually, he snapped, "Do you even know what Dallas did? He kidnapped Theo and tried to drive a perfectly healthy man like Sebastian insane. Then-"

Before Matthew could finish

detailing Dallas' wrongdoings,

Horace abruptly cut him off. "That's enough! don't care what he's done. His life life is under my protection. You're not laying a finger on him, or you won't live to see tomorrow."

Dallas smugly added, "Did you catch that? Uncle Horace said that if you dare

touch me, you won't live through another day."

A cold glint flashed in Matthew's eyes as he fluidly swung the Apex Blade, cutting

across Dallas' hand. With a thud, five severed fingers dropped to the floor.

Dallas screamed miserably as he held his injured hand, wailing in agony. "He sliced off my five fingers, Uncle Horace! You have to make him pay."

His anguished roar echoed in the room.
