The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage

Frank was unsure if he should laugh or cry.

To think that Moxxi was such a loser that she was trying to jump him..

If nothing else, this was getting amusing!

That was when Moxxi laughed. "You misunderstand, Mr. Frankton. What I mean to say is that you should trust my character!"

"Your character?" Frank actually laughed he had never even heard of Moxxi before, but he could tell that she was devious since she poisoned the Ingrams.

"Sure, I'm no angel, but I still get to save my own skin, don't you think?"

Moxxi threw her hands up. "The ones outside wouldn't get it, but I do-you're not a man that any of us mere mortals should mess with. In fact, you have the power

to save me from BM Group, so why should I be your enemy and behave inconsequentially like some cannon fodder?"

Frank raised his brow-the woman was right about that.

Even if she was no angel, she still had to worry about herself, and it was completely unnecessary for her to die for BM Group.

Still, he had trouble keeping up with her. "And what are you getting at?"

Moxxi grinned. "Calm down. I'll tell you right now—on paper, I'm here to kill you, though I suppose you'd know that."

Frank smiled but said nothing-anyone would think that was exactly what Moxxi was planning, let alone himself.

Still, Moxx continued, "What you don't know is that I'm a coward, and I don't want to be BM Group's cannon fodder. Instead, I'll turn against them and work for you instead-how about that?"

Frank nodded in understanding.

So that was why she had gone through all that trouble to lure him here, although...

"Did you really think I'd buy that so easily?" he demanded.

Moxxi shook her head and smiled.

"Of course you

won't believe me,

since I've acted against you for BM Group. So, as proof that I'm

defecting, the first bribe from me was the information that the real Mary is alive... and the second is soon to come!"

Soon, Frank was back at the Ingrams' residence, where he fed Alda and Donnie the antidote.

Jada then asked him, "Do you really believe Moxxi?"

Frank nodded. "She appeared devious, but a person's character doesn't make everything she said a lie. If anything, I think it's believable that the real Mary is alive.

"They are also aware that I have great power in the form of the

spiritron vein, which is why they sent another, Mary to attempt recruiting me. That much makes sense, but if you think about it, why wasn't Mary ready for me at all, instead allowing herself to be killed?

"If anything, she should know that threats alone hold no sway over me."

Jada realized with a start at Frank's explanation, as it was certainly logical That encounter with Mary was simply strange, even fishy, as it was clear that things were not what they seemed.

"What do we do now?" she asked.

"Nothing. Let's see what Moxxi is actually up to for now."

"Understood."

Soon, Donnie and Alda woke up, and Alda promptly exclaimed, "I-I saw that tomb again!"
