The CEO’s Hidden Love Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires

Chapter 1655

Felicity was at her wit's end. She found herself yearning for either Calvin's presence or the kind of laid-back attitude his mom always seemed to have. The kind where you listen if you want to, and if not, you just nod along without much care. "Anyway, you're totally done with that Langston guy, right?"

"Yes," she nodded, "But-"

"That's all I needed to know."

Calvin was sure of it-if Miles were to be completely ruled out of the competition, the victory would be his, no doubt about it.

Miles was his usual self, or so it seemed to those around him. Meetings, data analysis, coding, and then home. To the casual observer, he hadn't changed a bit since a year ago. But those close to him could tell something was off. Miles wasn't much of a talker before, sure, but he used to crack a smile at the little joys in life.

Now, it seemed like nothing could make him truly happy anymore.

Time flew, and several months passed in the blink of an eye. This weekend happened to be Jeffrey Turner's birthday.

Everett Lopez, his close buddy, was a must-have on the guest list, and he also gave Miles a ring, "Hey Langston, it's Mr. Turner's birthday today. Got any plans? Want to join us for dinner?"

"Happy Birthday to Mr. Turner, but I'm tied up with some computer setups at the office. Not sure when I'll be done. If I can make it afterwards, I'll definitely swing by."

Miles's voice was as gentle and polite as ever.

Despite everything that had happened with Felicity, there was no awkwardness with Mr. Turner and his family.

"Great! I'll send you the details. Make sure to come if you can. Your dad's coming too. We're probably going to have a few drinks, so you might need to drive him home." "Sure, sounds good."

Over in Aurora, Jeffrey had Karen call over, along with Craig, making this gathering a family affair. After all, at their age, every gathering was precious.

As the evening arrived, the hotel's private dining room was buzzing with life!

Everyone there was close to Jeffrey, even Kevin brought his wife along.

Karen was fussing over Aurora, who

was visibly pregnant, doling out and insisting Craig listen in

too.

"She's showing now, and the later stages of pregnancy can be really tough on a woman! You've got to look after her and be understanding of her moods!"

"I know, Aunt Karen." Craig wrapped an arm around his wife, his eyes no longer carrying that hint of

insecurity, now filled with nothing but tenderness. "Don't worry

Jeffrey, who had been enjoying his drink, glanced over in surprise.

"Wow! Abigail, it's been no time at all, and look at that bump!"noveldrama

Aurora gently touched her belly, leaning into Craig, "Yeah, not long now until the baby arrives."

Jeffrey took a swig of his drink and let out a sigh.

"It's wonderful, but it's a shame about my Felicity-"

Before he could finish, Karen quickly covered his mouth, preventing him from saying more. "You've had too much to drink! We're here to celebrate your birthday, no sighing allowed!" "Ah, right, right! No need for sighs," Jeffrey quickly recovered, masking his slip with a laugh. The rest of the table, busy with their own conversations, didn't catch the brief exchange. Except for Everett.

He caught Jeffrey's unfinished sentence and didn't miss the flash of concern in Karen's eyes. This couple was hiding something.

And it definitely had something to do with Felicity.
